A similar tale from my local paper:

In this case the family that saw the attack took the dog off him :) Brave people indeed and Blade the rottweiler now has a new home.

i had half a mind to pedal by and try and grab the dog and pedal away very fast - but i am sure all i would have achieved is falling off my bike at the bully's feet and getting a good kicking myself!

i have left a message with dog warden to call me back.

I hope they can do something for the poor doggie. I wonder if they are "regulars" to that spot. Maybe someone could keep watch and get them on video for proof and get them prosecuted for it.

What worries me is that if they treat the dog like that in public, what are they doing to it behind closed doors....
  • I would defiantly report that scum bag. There might be other people who have reported him in the past so I would defiantly make the call, Even if its for your own peace of mind.

I dread to think what that poor animal goes through :( Why have a dog if you hate it that much?!

Well done for speaking up. Why on earth do they have a dog if they can't treat it with respect  That poor dog has done nothing to deserve being treated like that - it really makes my blood boil

I hope that the RSPCA/Dog Warden can help you out.

I spoke up, told the man not to hit the dog and that he could yell as loud as he wanted, but the dog wouldn't understand as it doesn't speak English. I was of course verbally abused, so I asked him if it made him feel manly bullying a small defenceless dog. His girlfriend then came after me...so I had no choice but to pedal very fast, yelling that I would report them to the RSPCA, that I noted their numberplate. They drove after me but thank god I managed to dart down a one-way street!

OMG lowis, I hope you are OK, what a horrible thing to have experienced. You were very brave to speak out, well done.

They verbally abused you, the woman tried to attack you then they chased after you in their car while you were on a bike?

Seriously, I'd report that to the police. I'm shuddering to think of what might have happened if you'd not gotten away, or if they had forced you into heavy traffic.

Take very great care if you see them again.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

If wardens etc. draw a blank on this, how about posting the location - theres bound to be someone on this forum who lives nearby and can keep an eye out?
