32" LG Lcd TV reduced in Argos

Hi Guys,

Am posting this as I think its a pretty good deal but also after a bit of advice please....

Argos catalogue sale has this TV - (cat number 529/3599) LG 32LJ2000 reduced from £399.99 to £299.99.

We've been on the lookout for a decent 32" for a while but dont really want to spend much more than this - thing is I have absolutely no idea when it comes to anything technical. Can anyone who knows let me know if this is a good buy or any advice from anyone who already has this tele?

Many Thanks

I have just purchased this as it's a descent price for a 32" t.v but I've only purchased it for a bedroom so not too fussed, if it's for your main t.v in the lounge it depends what you really want and how high you set your standards, I would only consider the main players(Pioneer,Panasonic,Sony and a few others) for HD content or game machines displays but the average Joe would probably find the LG more than acceptable.

I think we're very much "average joe"!!! we dont use games consoles and dont even have Sky HD (although will probably get it in future).

Its just a new TV for our lounge (which is not very big) as we are still using a 26" CRT and its time for an upgrade.

    Thanks for your advice

LG are a great make - I am not sure if it is still the case but a few years ago, they were making the LCD tvs for most of the established names who rebadged and then sold them at very healthy prices...LG were making their own tvs and putting them on the market at a much more affordable price...same technology made in the same factory but just a different badge on it...I would feel very confident buying this, especially considering the reviews it has managed to receive!

For the price then I think it will suit you fine, they had 2 at my local Argos so hopefully you will find them available to you.

It is a decent specification, and £300 isn't a bad price, but just be careful you don't end up disappointed.

32" sounds a lot bigger than your 26" CRT (which I assume has the old shaped 4x3 screen), but the measurement is diagonal, so while this LG's screen is over 7" wider than your current telly, it's only 0.08" higher! So it might not look as big as you think.

I nearly got caught out by this when I bought my new telly - I was going to get a 28" but while the picture would have been wider, it would have looked smaller than what I had (25"), so I got a 32" instead.

I hope all that makes sense!

    ;)

Hi - I have a number of LG products and they are mostly very good. The only slight issue with the televisions is that the sound quality is not as good as one that costs much more - if you are not going to be blaring out music from it, I doubt that you will notice the ifference. Also, if you are intending to wall-mount, don't pay the really expensive prives for the branded maounts, as theyare hidden and you can eaisly get one for £10 from ebay or amazon.

I had looked at that one too - although in Currys as it was £250 in there (sure its the same one) Like I said I know nothing about TV's or technical stuff but I veered towards LG due to the name and the reviews and also the contrast ratio has a huge difference (1100to1 on Hitachi or 15,000to1 on LG)

When it comes down to the lower end of the market be it LG or Hitachi just read the people's reviews on the Argos website, most people seem to be happy with the Hitachi and the same with the LG for the £20 or so difference it then probably comes down to what looks the best not so much picture wise but chassis wise and to me the LG seems to have the sleeker looks but I'm sure you would be happy with either, reliability wise I'm sure someone could tell you they have had either brand for so many years without no problems where someone else would tell you they would never buy the same brand ever again so it's down to luck of the draw as much as anything but I think either brand would serve you well.
