They're basically lying. I sent a letter to Capital One when reclaiming my credit card charges, but could not remember my a/c no. I gave them the address where I was living at the time of switching from hsbc to cap. one. They sent me my credit card statements.

Has the 40 day period which they're entitled to, expired?
If it has, contact the FOS.

Why the FOS as this is about Data Protection Act 1998 and is dealt with by the Information Commissioners Office and furthermore, she didn't send £10 which is the statutory fee so therefore, they don't have to send the info anyway?

Pammie, on the NatWest account, was it open in October 2002?

hi an thanks for the quick reply

they sent the letter back within 1 week! i didn't request any statements, just charges back, as i'm short on cash at present ( so the £10 for an s.a.r is out of the question at the mo).

    what else can i do?

It will cost you £10(to them not me BTW). If you know when the account was closed then NatWest should be able to locate the details for you.
