Thank you efkay. Those international agreements have some uses.
One might think that missmoneypenny works for the DVLA but such strident disagreement with the facts would surely eliminate that possibility..
Just looking back over old posts and found this again. I hope you are willing to pay peoples fines Coblcris.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.0 -
Missmoneypenny, I specifically stated " I suggest people read the complete page ".
Now another post from you which I find disengenuous. You give no information or help and state no facts. I regret to say I am drawn to the conclusion that your motives for posting are in all probability rooted in mischief.
I would refer readers to the post by efkay.0 -
Typical,
the house across the road rents out the lower floor.
About four years ago a french couple moved in. Turned out to be the house owners business partner. They have a small cleaning company.
After the couples french registered car had been driven around the city for about three years I reported them. I had tried to speak to them but they weren't interested.
They eventually moved on about a month ago. After definately no tax, possible no insurance or mot for all those years. Saw them about last week in a GB registered car. A 51 Polo so can't have saved too much money.
DVLA did nada!!0 -
The V62 document gives the DVLA more power than people realise. Without one they are considerably hampered. It is more cash efficient for them to pursue those who have registered.0

The law referred to is article 5 of the Motor Vehicles (International Circulation) Order 1975 as amended by the The Motor Vehicles (International Circulation) (Amendment) Order 1996. The amending order implements EC directive 83/182/EEC which stipulates that if a vehicle is kept abroad for more than six months in a twelve month period, it should be re-registered and re-licenced in that country.
In other words, the car is legal to be used here for up to six months on aggregate without being registered or taxed here as long as it goes back to france for another six aggregate months within the same 12 months period.0 -
They are getting hotter on these fines of foreign cars not being paid esp in the London area.
OT but in Switzerland if you went home without paying then go back it is not uncommon to turn up at the border pulled aside and made to pay it there and then!0 -
I have heard Switzerland described as the nicest police state you could wish to live in.0

Yes, because every single non-British person driving a car in this country is a dirty, cheating, untrustworthy immigrant and should be reported to the law with immediate effect, right Bill?
I hope the Spanish do the same to you when you are breaking their public order laws on the Costas this summer, along with the other thousands of British chavs. The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.0
