HELP with ISA please

Hi I have a postal ISa with Abbey National.I just received my account summary and it says I can still put £1600 in my isa this year.Now I would like to put some money and then transfer it to the Halifax how do I do it? I can only do it tomorrow morning can I transfer money from my normal account into the isa in tha Abbey National and then go to Halifax and transfer the Abbey isa there in the same morning?please help Thanks

I think there will be some need for a time delay for your cheque to clear, possibly complicated by the fact that your Abbey ISA is a postal ISA.

The most important priority, IMHO, is to get your £1600 into an ISA (any ISA) by 5th April 2006. "Use it or lose it!"

Then you can transfer that 2005/6 ISA to another provider at your leisure, with no deadlines to meet .

ok so there is no deadline for that Halifax 5% fixed isa?
sorry I forgot to say I also have a normal account with Abbey and was thinking about transferring some money from it to the postal isa, is that quite simple?

That sounds the best way to get the money into your postal ISA ASAP & cleared for the earliest possible transfer. You could discuss with Abbey staff, at the same time, how soon that allowed you to make a transfer.

There could well be a deadline for the Halifax 5% fixed rate account.
