I only ask becaue their website mentions that Lamona applianaces are 'exclusive to Howdens'. Which means that you'll have no end of fun getting the spares for them.
Of course the d/w shouldn't leak on any programme. It's still in warranty so get them back to fix it.

4 months isnt very long for things to start going wrong - I would defintely get in touch with them now so they are aware of the issues

    So far as I know...

All the Howdens appliances are now supplied by Glen Dimplex and you're stuck with them for aftersales service and spare parts, for both they are not exactly renowned for being cheap or good, despite industry awards.

However you may find a whiff of China about many of the machines. ;)

Some of the Howdens/no brand appliances supplied by Howdens are made by Premium Appliance Brands Ltd ( PAB) who also used to supply MFI. Unfortunately it looks like PAB have recently gone into administration.

More info on PAB here http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=143
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    Hi Cattie,

It's a technicality but, since I'm that way inclined I'll clarify it saying as I wrote that article. ;)

PAB buy in from almost anywhere that they can get machines produced. Much of the cooking appears to come from Italy, dish from China and laundry from a mix of both. Refrigeration is largely from China from what I can see. But, they don't actually make anything themselves as such.

Glen Dimplex do make cooking products at Prescot near Liverpool but they buy in a LOT from the same factories that the likes of PAB, CDA, Baumatic and so on also use.

I am informed that much of GD's refrigeration, including that sold under the LEC brand that they also own, is now from China and <cough> not the best will we say. ;)

We usually advice people that, if it says on the plate "Made In China", run a mile. The reason is that most will go there to get the lowest possible price and, that's reflected in the build quality which, in many cases, is utterly shocking.

Sorry I should have said that PAB's supply appliances & badge them under different brands & not that they make the appliances.

I had to deal with them once when I bought a built in combi microwave oven & found them very helpful & customer friendly.

Our Howdens dishwasher has broken - model HJA8630. Aftersales no longer exists as was a Hygena, and they have gone bust so parts hard to come by. Had independent dishwasher repair man out today, he says steer clear of them!

What I am trying to say is, the Lamona, is acutally a Hygena. Confused? I am!
