Air not a Con

Options
Found a bargain in Homebase , Hemel Hempstead. 9000 BTU Standalone air conditioner.

RRP £179.00

Now £89.00
http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=636212&Trail=searchtext%3EAIR+CON

The woman on the till said the offer was about to finish.

It worked straight from the box no problem. It does have a hose that needs to be out of the room you are cooling , but i think this is normal.

They had a silver and black model that was a tenner more, but still a bargain.

In my mind anyway. :p

It does sound like a good deal, but is it noisy?

I can put up with heat during the day, but I do like to be cool at night. I can sleep through the noise of a ceiling fan, but much more than that and I'd struggle.

  • Does the air come free or do you have to buy refills?

You can also get these off ebay (brand new) for the same price, or a couple of quid cheaper DELIVERED.

Same homebase brand too... Seems like homebase vastly over stocked on these as a lot of overstock sites have the exact same units for around or under £90 delivered.

I got mine off ebay as I needed to use paypal to pay, its great although quite bit and heavy, not exactly portable for going up and down stairs often.

How long is the venting hose and how energy efficient is this?
  • I had this before (similar model, in hong kong)
I had the one with ice packs in it which lasts for about 5 hours
    and they are useless

but again hong kong is a much warmer place and we need proper air con - this is more like a fan. and it is much cheaper as well around 30 quid

The warranty will only be valid if you have the recipet from homebase. and will be valid from when the ebay seller got it from homebase.

This is air con, not an air cooler with ice.

Why are you here if you live in hong kong are you going to turn in to a spammer?

The seller is selling them officially, warranty included.
