SIM Card Not Valid - help please

I have a NOkia 6600 which was given to me. I bought a vodafone SIM card and pay as you go. I recently bought another SIM card from Easymobile as it is cheaper texts, but when I inserted the SIM card and activated my account the messaage is 'SIM card not valid'.

I emailed EasyMobile and they told me it is because my phone is locked and I will need the code. I am confused because it isn't asking for a code just 'SIM card not valid'. Also, why would my phone be locked when I didn't buy the phone with pre-paid credit/contract.

Can anyone help please.

I have looked at the security settings on the phone where it says 'lock if change SIM card' and this is set to 'No'.

Thankyou

Julie

sim card not valid does not indicate that the phone is locked, sounds like the contacts on the phone are dirty or its a duff sim card

a locked phone will give the message "phone restricted"

i always thought "sim card not valid" means the provider has prevented the simcard from working... for PAYG, it means you havent topped it up or made a call/text i think for the last 6 months
