Carphone Warehouse chequebacks

Could someone clarify how Carphone Warehouse chequebacks work? Do they give you the cheque back regardless of how much or little you spend, or is there some kind of catch (e.g. you only get back money corresponding to daytime calls)? If it's a straightforward case of getting a cheque no matter how little you used the phone, then they are doing a deal where you get a free phone and connection for a year, plus 1000 off-peak minutes.

Thing is, I was a little confused by the following in their Ts&Cs:-
"The value of this offer is by redemption chequeback. All you need to do is send in your airtime bills as stated above in the Redemption Chequebacks breakdown when you receive them. You will receive the amount stated at that bill period. If you have online billing, please send in a print out the HTML bill sent to you via email."
-- do they really mean that you just send them your bill and they send you a cheque?

With any cashback deal you pay your line rental as normal, £20 a month or whatever, then at certain times e.g. 6,8,12 months from the start of the contract, it varies, you send in your bill, they then send back a cheque to re-imburse you for some or all of your line rental, the amount varies with the deal. Some deals you claim at 6 and 12 months, others at 4,8,12 months, again it varies.

If your line rental is £20.month - thats what you get back. Any extra calls, are your responsibility.

So dont go running up bills of £100/month - you'll only get £20/month back :)
