    Me too! What's the catch??

Why are they asking me to log-in to 'activate' this 10mb upgrade?

The sceptical side of me is suggesting that Virgin know we signed up for 2mb and now want us to accept different terms and conditions that would allow them to up their fee. In fact they've already recently upped their fee - could this be their justification.

Why not just automatically increase the speed?

I'm very happy with the service I get so I think I'll leave it until they provide more explanation as to why they need me to 'activate' something.

I don't know for sure, but Virgin have said that users on the Broadband size M (2Mb) connection will be upgraded for free onto the 10Mb.

Virgin no longer offer 2Mb connections to new customers.

There may be some changes to the terms & conditions though. Could be to do with speed throttling changes with the faster speed... could also be worth checking if they want to tie you in to a new contract period.

Virgin are discontinuing 2mg BB and rolling out 10mg as the lowest speed, instead area by area. The price has gone up from £18 for 2mg to £20 for 10mg. I think they want to may sure all the customers in each area are connected properly to the new speed as they roll it out.
