I don't imagine there will be much difference between the square and the round ones. Will you contact the manufacturers?

I may drop them an email just as a warning for others. At the end of the day I cant prove to them I was using sun cream and I suppose they cant guarantee patches will be suitable for all skins. I'm healing and I now know to cover up where the patches have been for the foreseeable future. No long term damage luckily.

I'd love to know if this has happened to anyone else though.

I would DEF contact the manufacturers - and possibly Health and safety and trading standards - I am being serious - if there is NO warning in any of the boxes that this could happen, this is very poor customer service

I have just sent a friendly email to NiQuitinel, as I stated in the email I followed all instructions:
Throughout the time I used your product I followed all the guidelines on the leaflet, wore them for exactly the stated time and chose different areas of skin to apply them each time. My skin was not red, broken or irritated on the sites I chose to use and the total time I used the product was no more than 7 weeks or so.

I'll update if I do hear back from them.

I have never really suffered from any skin problems, I do have dry skin but its not so bad as to be classed as broken or irritated. I just find it incredibly strange that this can happen with no warnings on the pack. I racked my brains on Monday morning trying to figure out why I had a perfect burnt circle on my arm until I suddenly remembered I had worn a patch there. I looked like I had been branded :rotfl:

Unfortunately I cant recall which patches the round ones were, I think they were Nicotinell, but I don't have an old box around to read instructions on them as I only used those for a week or so, as is obvious from the single red burn as opposed to the massive square burns at the top.

Owww That looks really sore, I hope it gets better soon. I am shocked that it had such an effect 8 weeks after last using patches!! :(
I hope it didn't spoil your weekend, which festival was it?

Thats really scary, I'd never have thought nicotine patches could do that. Do you have to put them on your arm or could you could them on your stomach, somewhere less likely to see the sun? its been a long time since I tried patches, years, they used to make me really itchy. keep telling myself it would be a good idea to try again but not if they do that to my skin. Tried the gum but its awful. Hope you get a decent response from the company.

I did try them on my stomach, but they always seemed to drop off there lol. I also tried the top of my chest but again they weren't especially sticky after a few hours. The tops of my arms were really the best place for me as they stayed stuck.

I shan't be attempting patches again I think I'll ask the Dr for Zyban next time :p

Sidefx, it was the Download festival :D As I said I only managed to tan my right side due to the position of my friends sitting around me and shielding my left lol It didn't spoil the fun thankfully, after waiting 17 years to see Def Leppard nothing could have spoiled that for me lol
