I'm not sure but it could be your cmos battery is running out.0
-
Yes, it means you have a duff CMOS battery. It does not look like you will have easy access to the battery either0

So i need to get a new replacement battery? No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

Ok, so i should be able to replace it with a standard watch battery? As been pointed in this direction for this one - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-VARTA-CMOS-BATTERY-SONY-PICTUREBOOK-PCG-C1-PCG-C1S_W0QQitemZ330331761380QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_LaptopsAccessories_LaptopBatteries?hash=item4ce94eaae4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1683%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
But watch battery would be cheaper. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

CR2032 is the norm for DESKTOP PCs. Think you will have to purchase a dear battery for your LAPTOP.

Yeah thats the one. Have you located the one currently in your laptop?0 -
Right, different message is coming up on the laptop now after giving it a good charge
Just saying ' Operating Sytem Not Found'No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Sounds like the BIOS has lost its settings (because of the faulty battery) and now cannot locate the hard drive with the Operating System on it. You will need to go into the BIOS and try to configure the hard drive detection.

A lot of laptops still use 2032's as well but getting to it is not easy and not something I would recommend doing unless you know what you're doing or are lucky enough to have a laptop where it is accessible easily.
Sometimes it's nice and easy and under the keyboard but often its a case apart job.
Of course making sure the main battery does not go flat should be enough to prevent this happening without having to replace the CMOS battery so you could try that.
You'll need to hit F1 or F2 whatever it wants to enter setup.
Then make sure its found the hard drive (there may be an option to autodetect the drive if so do that then save).
If that doesnt work then look for Sata mode and change that to the other setting as it could be in IDE (often called compatible mode) now change it to SATA or vice versa depending on what its already set to0
