problem with my new dfs sofa

  • Hi again,

Got a call from dfs service man.He reckons that the sofa is supposed to be like that but as a gesture of goodwill the store will adjust it to my needs.

I refused to let them tinker with it and requested a new one.He said that if a new one came in they would adjust it before I got to see it!

He stumbled and said that they could do a repair as its faulty and then denied he said that !I know he's fobbing me because I thats why he stumbled and let it slip.

He also told me their is only another fabio 3 seater at rotherham and basically I either accept the adjustment (lol,he said repair at one point) or stick with it.

He told me to do what I like and take it further as if he did'nt care.

Anyway I phoned up a store in birmingham and a very helpful lady checked out their fabio and guess what, the back is completely in line so as to fit flush against a wall!

She gave me her name and told me to ask to speak to the nottingham manager.I am awaiting a call back.

Any advice peeps would be most appreciated

    Thanks
  • Phoned a another dfs and they say the fabio is also completely straight so as it can fit flush against a wall!

Not trying to sound like a stirrer or creating any extra work for you, but maybe it's worth taking a camera to one of their stores and photographing the back of the sofa - just so you can use it as proof of the fault.
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."
  • I would love to but unfortuantely the stores are miles away.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone in Birmingham or Manchester that could take a pic for me :(

It would be great if I did because it would certainly back up my case.

Hi how annoying! if im passing one ill photo it for you lol..await the call and go from there..i would call their bluff and poss say you have a relative in (wherever the sofa is) and say they are going to photo it as proof it is not right..good luck let us know how you get on x
  • The manager has agreed to come round to see it first thing monday and see for himself :)

I was very polite and I said I am sure we can sort something out.

Hopefully he will not give me the "within tolerance rubbish etc!

He did say if it was faulty they would order me a new one so hopefully its going to be sorted one way or another :)

Don't bother. Cancel and get your cash back and go and buy a sofa from a company who know how to make them and deal with problems properly.

I advise a traditional furniture store, or John Lewis, or M&S or for a manufacturer try Natuzzi. If a sofa costs less than £500 a seat it's probably garbage.

Davey i dont quite agree with the £500 a seat rule seems a lot to me..our sofa was £700 in the sale down from well over a grand, that would have made the seats still less than £500 as a corner suite..it was from furniture village and think it is fab!

lol I'm only on 25k a year so I had to do the buy now pay later scheme as I simply could'nt afford to pay the cash what with me mortgage and bills and a 6 year old child etc etc

My last sofa was a dfs and to be honest it was fantastic.Still looks good after 5 years but due to swapping and changing rooms it simply did'nt fit anymore so my mum had it (and shes very happy with it!).
  • Manager just been round and I can't believe how nice he was :)

Straight away he told me that I can have a replacement and whilst waiting for new sofa I will get loan furniture.

Told me that when new one arrives I can come down and inspect it before delivery.

Sounds like I'll be sorted :)
