I am so glad I am not the only mad mother around here! The rain is getting worse! I feel terrible for sending her to school in shorts!!! I'm sure she will survive!0 -

She can't sign on until July 3rd. Even when she can get jobseekers it wont cover her direct debits, so I'll still be supporting her. I've just paid her deposit for a holiday in December, now I'm worried I'll have to pay the balance. It's only a weekend at Pontins so it's not too expensive but it's a worry for me.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Ames - does she just need to re-submit her dissertation or is it a complete fail? If shes been doing a modular degree then she may be able to take some extra credits from somewhere rather than re-doing a year or whatever...
Also get her to write to DD people pleading poverty and see if they can reduce them - this may be harsh but by supporting her you are allowing her not to sort it out - cruel to be kind and all that...
Anyway having a better day today - did a swift power walk this morning to work on my way back from an errand - my piggy bank was full - got £29 out of it, am meeting a friend for dinner in Putney tonight which is nice
Hope your days get better!0 -
Oooo just mapped my power walk = 4 miles
And mapmyrun have added all the paths on London embankment so its going to be mucho easier to work running distances0 -
She thinks she'll be able to get the holiday paid for by parents as a christmas present.
She's failed one module and needs to resit, but she's been there five years and had to beg to get fees and loan for this year, so she'll have no chance of getting another years funding. I doubt she can reduce the dd's, she uses the services (mobile phone, car insurance etc). She's looking for a job, but the job centre wont help her with cv's etc until she signs on, and of coures at the moment there aren't many jobs out there anyway.
I know what you mean about cruel to be kind, but I'm taking a softly softly approach. I've just reduced her food budget, told her she has to stick to £30 a week (one week she spent £85, so it's a big drop for her).Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
£30 is doable - I spent £6.35 at the supermarket last night for my weeks food (well Monday to Friday anyway) - I am broke but its my own fault...thank goodness next week is payday
Thats fair enough re: sfotly softly - shes your sister after all!0 -

They don't know about it, she wouldn't let me tell them about it in case they had a go at her. She thinks she can save some money each week from her JA when she gets it, but I've worked out her bills leave her with a deficit to start with. And there's always the hope that she'll get a job by December.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
