    Afternoon all,

Am on my hands and knees this morning, no not praying, just painting the skirting boards in the kitchen, still have 3 window surrounds and two door surrounds.....don't mind walls but hate things that you have to be careful with...taking a short rest now then back to the grind again...have to keep the kittens out as they would enjoy rubbing up against the paint or even sampling the taste!

Roast chicken, bok choi (homegrown) and maybe some broad beans, with potatoes for dinner....most of it goes into the oven and then we can continue to paint.

No gardening or washing here to-day, lashed rain during the night so everywhere is soaked, veggies are delighted with a nice drink.

DD has an interview for a job on Friday morning at 8.30....its a 40 min drive outside of rush hour, so she will have to leave around 7 am.....she would like the job if it were nearer but its an all girls school which she thinks she would like....in my teaching days a hundred years ago I preferred to teach boys, but she is not me and discipline has changed a lot since then. She has not been called for other interviews yet as this was one of the earliest deadlines. Then it will be a case of trying to keep them all happy until she is offered something convenient to home.

Glad that you are enjoying Spain Beth.
Hope that everyone else on holiday on about to go has a good time...do you feel that you are on holiday full time now Mioliere?
FE...fingers crossed and prayers said for you, try not to stress.
NPM....glad it wasn't anything more serious than migraine, if a horrid one.
    PP...hope to-day goes well.
JackieO....sorry that your appointment has been deferred....you get all hyped up and then its a let down...agree that if there was a problem they would have let you know.
MSD....your garden sounds lovely....glad to hear that OH is making sure you have lots of salad stuff....the intention was good though!
Better go have my lunch while the slavedriver ( sorry DD4) is out collecting DGS2 from school!

Hugs to all in need or want

Thanks for the advice MSD but the fish were only in there temporarily while their pond was cleaned out. In our previous house we did manage to have them happily in the same pond for a couple of years so it does happen. ;)
The frogs don't venture too far and one in particular is practically tame now so is always at the edge of the pond when I'm in the garden. There is a huge orange toad who lives in a log pile beside the pond and this new one which is living in the greenhouse. The birds were most put out by the rain today and one of the fledgling blackbirds spent the morning sheltering under the wooden garden table and a baby robin spent most of his time with fluffed up feathers underneath the hosta at the side door. One of these days I'll post a pic of it all.

The rain has driven me inside for most of the day but the sun has just come out so the garden is calling again. :oThe peas and mange tout are thriving and we will have a few strawbs with ice cream tonight. The greenhouse is choc a block with tomatoes and peppers so it looks like there might be bumper crops this year. :j Spuds, garlic, beans, spinach, lettuce, radish, cabbage and caulis all doing well too. :D
Housework today included hoovering and washing all floors on top of the usual dailies. Sausage casserole is in the SC and we'll have it with baked spuds for a change.

Belated birthday wishes for Miss Twit. :D
    Thinking positively for you FE.
    Have a good trip DG.

    Take care

HI all, just a quick one from me - hope you are all well

NPM - glad your headache is starting to subside, they can be absolutley debilitating. I get quite definite prodrome with mine, a warning shot I guess - I get massively tetchy and my vision goes a bit odd. I find if I take asprin at this stage (usually at the scotoma, but before the headache) I can at least dull it. Dunno why that works for me.

Not OS'ing today, I'm on strike. I've been at work since 6.30 this morning, I've been invigilating exam script transcription all afternoon (I hate doing this, it's what we have to do when the exam papers are illegible. Unfortunatly that means calling the poor candidate back in and getting them to read it to a typist. Still, I learnt a lot about theology today as you don't tend to do your own subject)

I have some marking to do now. meh. Another five them I'm done.

OH has gone to the cinema with his friends, I have no urge to watch the terminator film, so I chickened out. I do however have some of the music from it on at the moment, so I guess I'm their in spirit.

I did make some modelling chocolate yesterday, I have to take cake to work on friday and I have the urge to play :)

    Hi All

Hope you are well ((((((hugs)))))) for all who need them and fingers crossed too!

Have been loitering somewhere in the backround lately, havent really had anything very OS to post.................still dont to be honest!

Have been trying hard to keep ontop of things around the house and to cook more from scratch which this time last year was completely unheard of for me so I guess I am moving in the right direction!

Am also now a convert to the white vinegar brigade! :rotfl: DH keeps telling me the house smells like a chip shop mind you!

Asides from that I dont seem to have done anything at all, sometimes I read some of your posts and feel tired after what you acomplish in a morning never mind a day!

Am full of great intentions tomorrow of cleaning the house but we will just have to see what tomorrow brings and how my arthritis is.

My mum really annoyed me tonight (actually she has really annoyed me over the past few days!) Her and my dad called on Sunday and I had been doing my housework so in my eyes the house was clean and tidy, I could see her looking around obviously looking for something to complain about but she said nothing, ok I thought. I phoned her last night and she made it blatently obvious that she didnt want to speak to me because my sister and little neice were there (however she will have an hour long conversation with my sister on the phone while we are there) so while this hurt me I thought ok maybe she just doesnt want to be rude. Then she phoned me tonight and said something about Sunday and I said 'oh well I made dinner' and she went completely off on one about how she had no idea how I had managed that considering my kitchen was a complete tip and it was discusting. She has hurt me so much, I think I am finally realising that no matter what I do it will never be good enough. I am actually on the verge of telling her that if my house isnt good enough not to come back. We have had a horrible year with my diagnosis and am really trying hard to grab at the life that I did have but she doesnt seem to care about any of it, all she sees is the bad.

Sorry for the really long rant! I am sat here in tears and Im annoyed at myself for letting her get to me.

Hey ho all I can say is that if I am ever blessed with kids I will be NOTHING like her!

Linz xoxo (if you are still reading by the way pat yourself on the back!)
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!

  • *Hugs* Linz...

Just remember you cannot change your mother, you can only change how you react to her..

I do sympathize as I have a mother with similar control issues.
