Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wed 17th JUneThis is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning.
Cloudy day today with threat of rain. Took my boat out for a trial run last night, which was great. It performed really well, even with 3 people in it. Looking forward to the rest of summer now. Got a few issues to fix, like nuts and bolts on the trailer which almost lost a wheel last night, but chuffed so far.
Handed in the last of the teaching applications for the season, so just hoping OH gets a teaching job..... It's tough out there with as amany as 200 applicants per post.
Well, not much new here... have a good day

Hi N9eav - glad you're so pleased with the boat. Good luck to your DH with her applications.
The weather is set to be lovely here today. I've just looked out of the window to a clear blue sky and the sun is already streaming across the farmer's fields next door. I need to see the farmer this morning, because we've noticed a calf that just seems to sleep all day. There are other calves there that are up and running about all day, so I'm sure there must be something wrong with this one. The farmer can't see the field from his window. He checks the herd each day but he won't have noticed that the same one is lying down all day. The mother leaves it to its own devices most of the time, then lies down with it at the end of the day. I haven't seen it graze or suckle now for two days, so he won't thrive.
Having had nothing to do with cows for all my life, I'm learning a lot just by watching this particular herd. They're gorgeous creatures, all varying shades of ginger, with black markings and long dark eyelashes.
Anyway, enough of that, save to say that we're having beef tonight! I'm doing spaghetti bolognaise, so that will be nice and easy. The beef here is gorgeous. I bought some the other day that was marked for stewing - I made a stew with one half, but the other half was one big meaty piece that I roasted in the Remoska - it was gorgeous. I ended up with two lots of stew and one roast for about £3.
Well, I hope everyone is well. I haven't caught up with the thread for the last couple of days - DH keeps asking me to help him clear the barn that he's turning into a workshop. I wouldn't mind, but I know there are lots of spiders in it at the moment!
Off to put the kettle on again.

Morning all,
Glorious weather here also, DB1 is doing a BBQ tonight so DH and I will pop to the local market and hopefuly pick up some fresh meat and veg.
We all had a wonderful time together y/day chillin and chating until the wee small hours.
Plan to do some more gardening with DB, we will buy some recycled soil for some of the beds, it's 7 euros a tonne. All building sites take all the earth to a centre where they mulch it up, add some sand and produce great soil, now that's MSaving and land fill saving.
Hope you all have a good day.
Belated birthday wishes Miss Twit _party_0 -

Morning Everyone
Sun is shining here today but I think rain is forcast for later, will get the washing done and dried first thing. Bedding today - means I have to venture into DD's bedroom :rotfl:not looking forward to that one.
Off out to the butchers this morning, cant remember if it is shut wednesdays but can go into another town if it is, want some nice ham for a salad tonight.
Had a good day yesterday, took our old unwanted gold into the town where a company is there for 2 days. Got £245 for it and it was only a small handful - they were paying more per gram than the local jewellry shop. Very pleased for stuff that has just been sitting in a box for years.
Today have a lot to do, office work and housework. At least dinner is nice and easy. Just need to make a loaf of bread. Need to think of something for my lunch. Am eating healthily this week and havnt had cola for 2 days :jit is quite hard though.
Off now to finish my tea (couldnt give that up)

Hi Everyone, sorry to be MIA, but been busy getting organised for our next hols:rolleyes:. Moiliere  - will soon be nearer to you, we will be just past Caen in the 'van for two weeks from next Saturday, spending time near Swinford (Lutterworth), Ashford (Kent), and then just above Abbeville (france) on the way there, and Honfleur and just outside Calais, and then Henley on Thames on the way back. Unless I find a McD I will certainly MIA for about a month.:o
Ironing done yesterday, and the 'van is all but packed. While deciding what to take tried on everything and ended up with a black sack for the charity shop. Will do the bedding today once DH is up, then it will only have had 1 night on when we leave it. BM on for a fruit loaf.

Morning Chums,
Grrr, well best laid plans ect. All psyched up to go for my appointment today with the breast care surgeon, and yesterday afternoon was rung by the hospital at 16.30.p.m. to say the clinic has been cancelled for a fortnight as the surgeon has had to go off on a course at the last minute.Oh well I suppose no news is good news and if there were anything wrong with my mammogram I would have been brought in sooner. But when its at the back of your mind all the time ,anything that changes things throws you for awhile. So I'm not too sure what I shall be doing today .I could go and price up the strimmers for the garden at B&Q as it's crinkly day and I get 10% discout ,or see if my son-in-laws one is repairable and borrow his.I only have a very small patch of grass to strim but at the moment its about a foot tall !!.Half of my garden I had laid to patio slabs about 2 years ago .I can't physically band very easily any more so I figuered that flowers in pots would be a lot easier to manage. They are as well, but I still have this small patch of green at the bottom. One of my grandsons calls it my 'wildlife garden' and I think he's right god knows whats lurking in the undergrowth down there. Also someone gave me a couple of tomato plants and they need re-potting as they are getting quite big now.So maybe some gentle gardening is on the cards today.I do have some ironing to do but its a bit too hot for that at the moment .
I have lots of things on my to-do list to-do but its just getting the inspiration of what to get started on first.A nice big pot of tea and a ponder first might help.School run this morning with the little ones.I went to one of their school exhibitions on Monday as Jack is 'specially gifted' when it comes to computers and it was so good I love to see how the children are getting on at school and the children love to show off to adults their skills. He is only 9 and a really bright little boy who is interested in almost everything, I hope the interest stays with him and dosn't diasappear when he gets to the seniors.
Well I hope everyone has a great day and gets done all they want to do.
Take care
Cheers JackieO xx0 -

Morning all,
Jackieo, was going to wish you good luck for today, but will hold it for a couple of weeks for you xx
Nice day here again, shame I am off to work , quick tidy round this morning should do, washing basket is almost empty, and the dw was on last night after dinner.
Rubbish and re -cycling to go out this morning.
One of my veg planters has been really suffering with slugs, but I can never find them ,and it is slug taped, anyway last night I gave it a thorough soaking, went out about 10 mins later to find about 40 tiny baby slugs crawling up the inside to escape the water , I have to say a lot of them ended up squished, so will have to do that again tonight :T
Not sure whats for tea, something with chicken, maybe a curry and rice, or maybe I will batter and fry the chickenanyway we will not starve.
Happy Birthday to Miss Twit for yesterday :T
