Ebay, how do I ? ......................

I'm selling something on ebay. Last night at 11.30 pm when I got home knackered I answered three questions on the item. I've just realised I've given one guy the wrong info - he asked if it had something, and I said ''no'' but in fact it does.

I've gone into my messages and tried to 'respond' to it but it won't let me as it's already been answered.
I've used the community bit to find the user - then tried to send a message - but get a big triangle with ''Attention'' you can't do this, you're nvolved in no transactions with this user, if you're a buyer do this, if you're a seller do that - think they're thinking off-ebay transactions.

So how do I get a message to this chap?

Find their user name and click on it. It should take you through to a page titled 'My World' and on the left hand side there should be a link saying 'Contact Member'.

It may bring up a warning about trading outside ebay but it shouldn't stop you from sending a message.

Yeah, you'll get the warning but ignore it, enter your message and the "capcha" and send.

Failing that then reply to the email via your personal email address and then put a note on the auction to say that it does in fact have whatever it is :) The message itself won't of gone through ebay but I've often found this to be the only way to do it as I can never get passed the warning

Actually I don't think you can as under the newish no contact rule email addresses aren't released. You get the one shot at a reply and that's it. Unless they sell as well and you can use the ASQ, I think you are stuck.

It does stop me - There is no message field, just the following statement - can't get past it :

Attention! We have determined you are trying to contact an eBay member with whom you are not currently involved in an open transaction. For the protection of the eBay community, we sometimes block these types of communication. To prevent this occurrence from happening in the future, we recommend the following:
    • If you are a seller, respond to all bidder questions before the auction ends.
    • If you are trying to contact the seller of an item that has not yet ended go to the item page and click the “Ask seller a question” link.
    • If you are the winning buyer of an item go to your My eBay page under the items I’ve Won section. Click the action drop down menu and choose the “contact seller” action.
    • If you are a seller trying to contact your winning buyer, go to My eBay and under the Items I’ve Sold section, click the action drop down menu. Choose the “contact buyer” action.
    • Reply to seller/bidder through personal email provider (if the sender has not hidden their email address).
    Thank you for your understanding

As you say I can't see his personal e-mail address. And he's not buying or selling.

I tried ebay's live help - useless. I've sent an e-mail to ebay asking how I can contact him.

Don't really know what else to try ?

I really do think you are stuck, it is a one answer system now and once you use that there is nothing you can do.

I had something similar last year when the system came in, responded to a question and said I would weigh the item and get back to them with a combined invoice, and then of course couldn't ever contact them again.

Couldn't you put message on your listing?

He'll probably read it again if he's still interested.

if you go to the message they sent you, where it says their username it gives you the number of feedback they have, click on the number and takes you right to their feedback page and at the right side of the page it says contact seller, it really is a pain in the A*** this new change because more often than not you need to contact them a number of times before you/they have got all the answers they need
