    Hi Rich44

Have managed to suss out the wireless problem (my son had switched the wireless connection off!).

As regards the buffering, he uses the sites at different times, though in fairness probably during peak times BUT he has checked at 2 different addresses in the town and got no buffering then.
It is worst when connected wirelessly.

I've only just joined TalkTalk and figured they'll all be similar results re. connection and speed. What do you consider to be a 'real ISP?'
  • I use Freedom2Surf, and whilst they're not what they once were I do get an excellent and consistent 11-13Mbps, every hour of the day and night, which is somewhat higher than the online tools say my maximum speed ought to be, based on my distance from the exchange. That said, I'm paying around £14 a month for it, so it damn well should be better than the super-cheap providers!

Mind you, if anyone's thinking of going over to F2S, let me know; I believe I can still get people discounts by quoting a code, although it's possible that offer has ended.

It's horses for courses really, you need to think about what's important for you, fast speeds all the time, high download allowances, low ping times (gaming) or something that's more flexible.

I used to resell the Entanet ADSL services as they use resellers so there's people like

    ADSL24
    UKFSN
    Aquiss
    Vivaciti

To name a few of them (I have no financial connection to any of these).

If you have Sky TV then it's worth considering their broadband.

Have a look at https://www.samknows.co.uk and find out what's available at your exchange
