Hi
Have recently subscribed to talktalk broadband but am getting buffering on sites such as 4on demand and YouTube.
I have had a little guidance from the talktalk forum and done speedtests but wonder if people on here can help (as alot of you have helped me in the past:j).
I've just gone directly into the test socket to get my sync speeds.
Not sure exactly which info is needed though.
Here is most of it:
Data Path: interleaved
Operation Mode: ADSL2
Bandwith down: 4513/612
SNR margin down: 11.0/12.0
Attenuation: 50.0/28.3
CRC down/up: 4/2
FEC down/up: 1418/6
HEC down/up: 72/0
Any views on this please ? (the simpler the better for me, thanks!)

I think it's quite possible that Talktalk shape the traffic so it will limit your speeds when on such bandwidth intensive sites, during peak times. Does this only happen during peak hours, or all the time?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I think it happens at various times (will have to check with my son first to be sure, though). He has checked it at other people's houses, with no buffering at all.0

That theory would seem to be backed up by this webpage

That's what happens when you offer people such a cheap deal

The trick is to judge whether to stay when everybody leaves!

Well to be honest, I was thinking of going to O2, but the same thing will probably happen there too, so I'm probably best staying put! C'mon everyone, leave talktalk, I want a better service!:DNorthern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
New problem emerged, after going directly into the NTE5 test socket, I now find that I am unable to connect wirelessly to the tinternet (Internet explorer cannot display the webpage).
Any help, please?0 -
Something must have gotten upset when you unplugged your router using the test socket wouldn't have caused that.
Double check your wireless security settings, ie enter them again.
Are you connected to talktalk via BT Wholesale or via their LLU network?
I'm guessing as you're on ADSL2 that it's LLU as not sure whether talktalk are using 21cn from BT yet.
TalkTalk is heavily oversubscribed an because of this they use rather draconian traffic shaping measure to keep the service generally usable for the masses generally this will hit p2p applications and as you've found out video on demand services.
If it is happening at all times (best to check in the early hours of the mornings when the network will be relatively quiet) then log a fault with them as there are a number of things that could be causing this like a stuck radius profile for example, if not then it's time to leave and go to a "real" ISP as a rule you get what you pay for0
