If your grateful, then hit everybody's 'thanks' button please.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I have made possibly two of the most expensive and stupid mistakes of my life, I actually feel sick!
Two days ago I went to Tesco's for an urgent item and the car park was rammed (as usual) but because I was in a hurry I stupidly parked on a double yellow (in the store grounds) and ran in to pick the one item up. I was literally in there for 10 minutes and had a ticket when I came out. It just has my reg and details of the offence. Bad enough.
Then the following day my insurance reminder came through the post and I thought it must be time to sort the MOT, I have always done the two together. This was the first year of my 'new' car and when I grabbed my MOT I was horrified to see that it is 4 weeks out of date. I have immediately booked it in to be collected tomorrow and sorted. I haven't driven it again. It is a (stupid) but genuine mistake and one that I have never made before. Ironically it was my first ever parking ticket too.
Now I am paranoid that the ticket company contact the DVLA (to get my address) and this will trigger a £1000 fine for no MOT.
Any advice would be appreciated. I can't afford that kind of penalty but guess I will have to find the means if it comes to that.

    Thanks in advance

Those "double yellow" lines on private land have no meaning at all. They could have painted skyblue-pink ones with spots that are equally as meaningless.

I shouldn't worry about they parking company contacting the DVLA. OK they might get your driver details but I very much doubt that this will flag up to the DVLA about your overdue MOT

As for that ticket, just ignore it. You have not committed any parking offence and the parking company have no right to demand any money off you. Just ignore any correspondence from them.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Just to steal you'r thread .. i had a ticket from UKNPC from march 2010. unjustified as the car pak i used gives a free 3 hours and i returned to my car after 2hrs and 45 mins (close i know) only to find a ticket on my window and the time was illustrated as 15.00 when the actual time was 14.45. that 15 min difference would of "justified" the ticked .. but the time was wrong on it.

so i called there customer services number and requested that my call was logged on there systems with the time ect. but the agent advised that she didnt have my details yet but to call back later ,, witch i knew would of been a waiste of time.. eather way i have my mobile phone bill with the call logged as proof

any thats the start issue. now to skip to present after the usal letters phonecalls demands for money or coart ... i start getting calls from the same debt collection team as the OP. from a gemma, she now insists that as i have lost my original ticket i do not have a leg to stand on and that i should pay or i would loose in court .. do i still ignore.. wouldnt they still have the underside of the ticket and have to produce it.. or they would have that i overlapped as of 15.00pm but then my phone bill would prove i had the ticket before hand..

sorry about my punctuation and spelling errors.. i'm not the brightest :P

Gemma at Roxburghe? We have heard of her I think, not that she's important. :p

Why are you taking this so seriously, they will NOT take you to Court in a million years! Just ignore the letters and get them to stop the phone calls.

Next time the stoopid company phone, tell them that any debt to the parking co. is expressly denied. Do not use any other word, not disputed, etc. DENIED.

Then add that their contact has become harassment and you will have NO hesitation in reporting them for the criminal offence of harassment if they contact you ever again in any form about this matter whatsoever. Insist they pass the file back to the originator as 'debt denied'.

Clues here about what to say about reporting them for harassment (for that's what it is):

You can simply ignore it all but the phone calls must be a pain so you need to shut them up.

Happy Christmas, you owe them nothing of course. Nothing will happen to you. :D
