MINT Credit card cheques

Does the MINT credit card still do cheques?

I have been told by their customer services that they don't, which defeats the point of having the card IMO.

I took out the card specifically for my first fast stooze, but now it seems that they won't let me do it!

Anyone have any idea what'g going on???

    Thanks for the reply.

Turns out that it was the idiot call centre woman i spoke to the first time i called, who clearly had no idea what she was doing.

Cheques on their way now, although it seems they weren't coming until i asked for them.

Also squeezed a small limit increase out of them at the same time, so not all bad

Can anyone tell me what Mint charge for these cheques?
Bet match total as of 04/10 = God Knows + About £1000 Quidco. Time for Mrs Huddsta to have a crack!!!

The Bronze Challenge - earn £250 in profits =£73.32
  • It's 2% up to a max of £49 if I remember correctly - same as for balance transfers.

I had to ring up and ask about the cheques - my exact words were "How do you write a cheque from a mint account" and the reply was "You write the amount and then sign it". When I pointed out that yes, I know how to actually write a cheque but where are they to be found, he seemed very surprised that I hadn't got any but clearly they aren't very forthcoming with them except when using them as part of their marketing!

It seems that MINT's customer services guys aren't necessarily the brightest or most well informed about their own products.

The 2% maxed at £49 is correct.

I am now planning to use these cheques (when they arrive) to pay (95% of) my current limit (now £3000) into my A&L current account, then into my online savings account. Am i doing this correctly?

Do i need to stick with 95% or can i go higher? I can't recall where this got into my head from.

This would give me £2850, which at 4.25% (i thought my A&L savings was higher than this when i applied...) would give me about £120 after 1 year.

When the MINT deal runs out at 0% i should make sure i have a new fee-free BT card waiting.

Could someone let me know if i'm getting close to doing the right thing here?!?

I guess i have to pax tax on the £120, check that the savings %age is the highest around, and not forget to set up min payments to be made.

As far as I know, there's no restriction on the cheque. However, I'd suggest leaving a small amount available just in case the DD fails - then you won't face an additional charge when they add the late payment charge.

Depends when you applied. Those who applied before the 0.9% bonus was withdrawn will retain the bonus until (April?) 2007

    Sounds sensible!

0.9% bonus would take it to 5.15%, methinks, and this sounds like a more familiar number. I applied maybe a month ago, and do have my account up and running already, but the fornt of the A&L website says 4.25%, whcih from what you say i presume is what you get if you apply today. Extra gets me another £25 interest, which on the small scale i'm at so far is quite a lot.

    Thanks for the advice

Because if you use an ISA and !!!! up and have to repay the credit card, you have used up your ISA allowance for that year.

Apologies, but i'm new to stoozing, i've tried to read as much as i can on the subject and would like to earn from my credit card company. Am i on the right lines with my method, i've got a mint card, with a poor in my opinion credit limit( £1900). Would i be right in writing out a cheque for £1900 and paying that into my Alliance and Leicester, bank account or i have ING, but i believe Aand L is the better interest rate. Obviously sit on the interest and pay off the nought percent or balance transfer before Jan 2007, as i have 9 months 0% on purchases and balance transfers. Can i write a cheque for the full amount available on my credit limit and is it wise?
Am i correct in thinking that you have to pay 2 percent to use the cheque or £49 MAXIMUM. Are there any other fees, as you can probably tell from my post i'm a virgin stoozer.
