Hi everyone,
I am new to the site but I would really appreciate some help, my partner and I currently live in Spain, we are hoping to move back to the UK at the end of the year, we are just waiting for all the paperwork to bring our little dog back with us. What I would like to know if there are any landlords reading this, we are hoping to rent somewhere but we have lived in Spain for over 7 years, so we have no UK references, no credit history for 7 years, etc. So what will we be required to show , we have work and rental references from here, we also have receipts and contracts showing all our past and present rental details. We will probably be able to pay 4 months rent up front if not more. I have read all the information on this site regarding renting and also rang a few agencies in the UK but they all seem to give different information, and the information is not really geared up towards somebody returning from abroad. We will be looking for jobs as soon as we return, my partner pretty much has something for when we go back. Is there any advice anyone can give us on the best way to proceed for us to successfully rent a property, many thanks in advance.

Your best bet will be to offer 6 months rent in advanced, but like you said every agent is different, however I wouldnt have though many would have has a porblem with this.
Its the dog I would be more worried about. If you plan to bring him back with you, not many people rent to people with dogs.
If you have 6 months rent unfront, proof of your ID, I am not sure what else they would ask for.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
I am in the same boat,we had to use my sister as a guarentor as did not have 6 months up front.no LA would consider us without either.Have you tried renting from a private LL.We have 2 dogs and some LL didnt mind ,ask the LA to phone and ask the LL dont take the LA word for it.We got lucky in the end i found a house advertised that said "pets welcome".
Good Luck with the move.0 -
In this kind of situation I would think that most agents will require a guarantor and some if not all of the rent up front.0
