Freesat From Sky with sky card

Hi,

I've recently installed 'freesat from sky' by myself and I was wondering of there is any way that I can get the full freesat package with a normal sky card. The card and box I have came from my mum's sky tv when she moved house, and I can get the free sky channels but none of the 'freesat from sky' ones that appear on their website.

Does anyone know if I can activate, so to speak, the sky card so that it works with freesat or will I have to buy the card that freesat from sky offer?

It sounds like your card is an old obsolete one. I think that you can buy a card from Sky for about £20 that will supply all the free channels from Sky.
I don't know whether you can buy a Freesat card that will plug into your Sky box.
I hope that this makes sense, but its late and I am tired.

What channels are you missing?

A standard Sky reciever gets all the Freesat channels except C4, C5 and Sky three that Freesat gets without a card in it.

If you are thinking tyou should get Sky one, thats not part of the Freesat Offering

Not quite. C4 is now available and C5 can be added manually though it doesn't appear in the EPG.

What you don't get is FIVER, FIVEUS, their timeshift equivalents, and as stated, Sky 3.

It may be worthwhile to do a force download on the box.

Another thing worth noting is if, like me, you have upgraded to HD and have your old Sky Plus box going spare the £20 FreesatFromSky card will not enable you to record or even do live pause with a Sky Plus box (as I learnt to my cost). In fact if you intend to use two Sky boxes in the same room a Plus and HD both use the same remote so you would have to revert to a Digibox.
