I recently bought a Canon Pixma MP610 and I can honestly say it the best printer i've ever had. The inks seem to last for longer than Epsons and Lexmarks with the quality of print also superb.

They've got them on amazon, just search for MP610 and read some of the reviews.

Hello, I need help with choosing an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. My budget is up to about £75 but it is important that the ink carts are cheap. I only do basic text printing mostly, some pictures but do not print photos. I fancied the Canon MP 260 at about £60 but the ink carts were £15 for black and £18 for a colour, much too dear, running costs would be too much. Many thanks all recommendations appreciated.

Vems, I bought a Epson SX200 from comets for £45 nice and cheap, all in one printer, i use a program called inksaver <works with all inkjets, with it which saves me about 30% on standard printing, with no difference in quality, higher than that and you can see a difference, when printing photos at high resolution you can disable it.
compatibles for the printer are around £14 for 12 compatibles that 3 sets of 4, each cartridge will have about 12ml - 18ml depending on who you get them from, just install, make sure you get the new 6chip, which means the epson wont complain they are not genuine epsons. Normal epson cartridge usually has around 8ml in them.
Oh and theres a trick with the epson cartridges, just above the chip theres a little hole, inside is a reset switch, so when you cartridges say they are empty, get a little pin, take out the cartridge and put the pin in the hole to reset it, then put the cartridge back into the printer, tell it you installed new cartridges, and it should show about half filled on the gauge. Funny what you can find on youtube.

well, bought printer on the 18th, and some mess up with delivery after few emails i had to go and collect from parcel force- i was told i had only put house number and postcode and no street name ! did asked epson for proof of that but no answer.

anyway , printer is crap--- yes it s got lower consumption than lexmark but hell, the noise it does when draging paper makes you throw up your coffe, many times trying to print from internet page says '' unknown error''
the printer came without usb but i installed my cannon cameras cable
copy platform is not flat but pitched so to get your paper there you need to take a bit care so to ensure it stays there ! what a stupid design

scanning inposible to find how after reading manual 3 times no mention at all
good on ink- thats the only good

sent them an email maybe to get this piece of sh.. back and get a bigger vireless
    sx600fw
if they dont get it i ll post it to them for free and will never look at epson again

My Canon S300 is now 6 years old (at least), and it's starting to show its age, so I'm going to have to get a new printer. I'm looking for something to do the following:
    • Letters and similar documents
    • Colour photos and drawings
    • Duplexing (ideal, but not essential)
    • Network port (deal, but not essential)
    • Long-life cartridges
    • Accepts compatible cartridges
    All suggestions welcome! :D

I've been looking at a colour laser printer, mainly the HP CP1515N (info) or 2600N (HP's website says this is now discontinued).

Or there's the Dell 1320cn (info) which is about 116 quid inc VAT and looks quite good, and has a choice of standard (1,000 page) or high (2,000 page) capacity toners.
