Hi, Im looking to buy a 56 plate Dynamique DCi. Anyone out there got any experience of these cars. I do not do a lot of miles or use the motorway very often, mainly for round town trips, running kids around etc. I would be grateful for any opinions on this car. Cheers!

They are quite nice to drive. Though Renault's generally are and have decent spec. Which is where it goes wrong, cos most stuff will fail left, right and centre...

Many Thanks for your replies. I have looked at some reviews and found that only maybe 1 in 5 give this car any kind of a good report. I was due to take a test drive tomorrow, but it seems that I would be wasting my money on this car - back to the drawing board I guess!

I would second this. I have one and have had no problems at all. It is a very nice car to drive too.

Im off for a test drive in 10 mins. I will consider all your opinions during this. Many Thanks - I will let you no how I get on. PS Salesman says most of problems occur with petrol engines and not with diesel

I have a megane, its 55 plate 1.6 VVT Oasis.

Ive had no issues like they have mentioned above.

Things to look for when buying one is the spec, we initially looked at the Dynamique but instead went for an Oasis which was apparently lower in spec.

    Our megane has..

    Panoramic Sunroof
    Electric windows in the rear
Keyless entry & starting (Have the key in pocket, bag and car starts. Very very ideal, no hunting for keys. Doors lock & open by buttons on the outside. Insert your hand and it senses it, opens the door. Buttons on outside, press them once to lock car, twice to close all windows & sunroof).
    Air conditioning with sunroof
A button on drivers door which locks the rear windows, and operates the child locks. Ideal to let people in & out.

Apart from that, the rest of the car is normal. Headlight bulb changes are a little difficult, but once you have done one there easy to do. You need to put your hand through the wheel arches by unscrewing a cap to get in there.

I would ensure you have the right spec for your needs, getting the key card out all the time to open the door is a right pain, when the keyless means you approach the car & the door opens when you put your hand in. Get into the car, put your foot on the brake Or clutch pedal press the start buttons and away you do.

If you leave the car with the key in the bag, the car starts beeping at you, and once turned off it wont start until you return. If you are away from the car by about 1mtr it wont start or open, so you need to be at the car & not like top gear.

Ive had it since Oct 2008, chopped my 2004 Renault Clio 182 (2.0ltr clio) in for it, and never really looked back since.

    Car grades are like..

    Expression

    Wheel trims
Need to press key to open doors
Need to insert key to start car
    Electric windows front, manual rear

Oasis (this is a limited edition to boost sales, so higher spec but with wheel trims)

    Panoramic Sunroof
    Keyless entry & starting
    Electric windows all round
Air con with sunroof (usually one or the other)
    Wheel trims
    Front Fogs

    Dynamique

    An expression but with..

    Alloys
    Air con
    Elec windows rear

    Privledge

    Old man leather seats
    Alloys

Also, the 1.9 DCI is 6 speed, good up too 100mph (apparently) and 45mpg..
