I had a renewal letter - my premium was going up from £34 a month to £51!! No claims made or anything. God knows why!
I checked the usual comparison sites and got better prices. I then rang Direct line today to cancel the policy. DL then reduced to £36 a month. I told them about the £34 from Churchill and the guy had a word - came back with £33 a month. Saves me the hassle of starting a new policy elsewhere. More than happy.
Amazing - down from £51 to £33 a month in a 3 minute phone call. Always challenge!!

Churchill are part of the same company as Direct Line.0 -
Don't you mean skills
To kill someone negotiating your home insurance would be a bit much:rotfl:
This is a moneysaving site - so why has nobody pointed out that £33 sounds high for home insurance. Also, why has the OP not tried www.moneysupermarket.com etc. for a better price?0 -
I am with Direct Line. Renewal quote was £350.00. Churchill quoted £270.00. Phoned Direct Line was kept on hold for five minutes then he came back and matched the Churchill quote.0

Come again?? Obviously depends on the level of cover you have, but that would be about right for what i have...0 -
I reduced my buildings and contents from £316 pa (Tesco paid annually) to £188 (Barclays - interest free £15 pm over 12 months). Same cover; like-for-like. Didn't even bother going back to Tesco to see if they'd reduce their renewal quote. That's for a 5-bed detached including accidental damage, valuables away from home, emergency home repair service, etc.
Could have done better probably through cashback site but insurance cashback is always a bit hit and miss... However, feel it was a good deal and, as long as it's interest free, am glad to be paying monthly rather than one big hit in July - better in my bank than theirs.

I just got my renewal quote from D/Line, say its going from £19 per month to £26 per month - Nearly 25% increase (Tenant contents only) - going to start shopping round, Wonder if they bumped there prices up in the last year does anybody know? Seems like a big jump to say iv not made any claims...0
