Hi
my baby has started wearing bras! she is 12 years old ! I refuse to buy the ones designed to make our children look either 'sexy' or the padded ones !
So I have bought her some white non-wired 'very simple ones......they fit perfectly ....
my question is......as they only seem to come in white....and the coloured ones seem to be only padded, wired or completely unsuitable...........how do I dye the bras to match her colourful clothes?!
purples blues pinks etc
many thanks in advance

If the bras are cotton then I think you can use dylon cold water dyes.0

I wouldn't dye them. The different fabrics used on the straps and the back etc may not all react with the dye the same.
From memory M&S do a range of colourful yet suitable bras for the little un's in their Angel range. Not too badly priced either.0 -
thank you Horace & vamps
we have tried the m&s ones ....great value but could not find type that fitted as well as the 'mandco' ones, plus they tend to be quite high and show under the vest type tops she wears.
M&S ones are great value though!
Yes, I was contemplating the cold water dyes but
a)seems like a lot for a tiny bra ..... MSE me wanted to check if anyone had tried!
b) not sure how the elastic part will react!
thanks again for inputYNWA JFT96 :A0 -
my experience of getting white underwear in with a coloured wash suggests that some parts wont take up the dye at all and you'll end up with a pink bra with white edges/elastic bits etc.August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -
I've got a few I was going to shove in with some things and dye tomorrow. (Dylon in the machine) mine are errrr lets say a bit bigger but I'll let you know how they turn out.0

I used dylon machine dye for some towels and dyed some bras and knickers at the same time. The edgings and trims on the underwear went a totally different shade as the main part and faded realy quickly.
I would'nt try it again.0 -
oh thank you...that saved me trying !

A bit off the wall maybe, but you could get some fabric paints ot transfers and let her decorate them herself. You don't have to colour them completely but you might be able to add some small designs to them. Or you could sew on some small beads or applique to make them more intresting.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

Calmspirit, your thread got me thinking and (unless cash is very, very short) I'd take her out and let her choose something really pretty and special (which fits of course). Maybe, in time, she'll be happy with the plain ones for everyday but at the moment I think she needs to feel really good about herself.0
