Urgent: How much to send a CD?

Hope anyone can help. I've had the day from hell and I forgot to go to the PO to post a CD! It really needs to go today if I want to keep my feedback positive!!

I have a few random stamps at home and could get it into the 6.30pm postbox if I'm quick. Does anyone know how much it costs to send a CD? It used to be 72p or 78p but its gone up now and i'm not sure by how much. Actually, saying that I'm sending a CD single and its lighter. That used to be 56p.

Many thanks!

It should be classed as a large letter, so according to RM website, should be 90p.

I have one here on my desk I was listening to, on my digital scales a single album weighs 114 g so like lallysmum says 90p for 1st class. If 2nd would be OK then it would be 76p.

Hmmm...no recorded delivery, no certificate of posting...

You are taking a big risk and could still end up being negged as well as out of pocket.

I don't use recorded and have had 1 loss in the past 10 months. With the PO paying out less and less claims I would also not bother to waste 40 minutes of my time walking to the PO, waiting in a 25 minute queue and walking home again all for a COP.

However, I am rather asusming this is a cheap CD, if it was more than about £8 then i probably would bother going to the PO for a COP.

No I never send CDs recorded! Normally just 1st class. Its not worth a lot this one, so I'll take my chances without a C.O.P!

    Thanks all!

I need to send a cd through the post too. I didnt realise somebody bought a "buy it now" cd from me two days ago.

Im going to send the cd in a plastic wallet as I lost the case, In a A5 envelope which are with-in the dimensions of a normal sized letter.

Do you think I would be able to buy a 1st class stamp and post it as a normal letter? Im just wondering about the weight?

If I send it as a large letter, how many stamps would I need to get to get it to the right price?

thanks for any help, I need to get it in the post today.

I don't have a CD about to weigh, but this is the royalmail pricing calculator.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I have a kitchen salter scale, but not sure how to read it. It goes upto 5kg.

When I put the envelope on the scale it goes 2 marks up? (the little pointers/markers) lol anybody have any idea? if this would be in the 100 g limit royal mail have for standard letters weight.

CD in plastic wallet in A5 envelope? under 100 g?

If I send it with 1st class stamp and it does not cover postage what would happen?

    The risk is very small.

I send CDs and similar items second class. I usually get a COP.

I haven't had one go missing yet so I have never needed the COP.

If I ever do get conned and don't have a COP, my loss will be less than the savings I have accumulated by not spending on recorded delivery.
