Easycar Car Hire Warning!

Please be careful when booking Easycar car hire!

Earlier this year i needed to book a rental car from JFK Airpot (New York) for a week. After reading the MSE articles about how to reduce holiday costs and searching for the best deal Easycar came up on almost all the searches.

I was a little suspicions of the 'easy' reputation but went with it (after reading all T&C's) and stuck it on the CC just to be safe. The easycar voucher came through for National - i was chuffed! I've used National a number of times, always been pleased, and i paid about £30 less than going direct!

Got to JFK, went through all the usually hassle, and got to the National counter to be met by blank faces! 'We dont have a record of your booking Sir'. I had all the paperwork, vouchers, e-mails etc. to no avail. Spoke to Easycar (who were awfull) but ended up paying National direct with the difficulty of reclaiming the cost from Easycar on my return.....

To cut a long story short i evetually got most of my money back, Easycar were awful and i will never ever book with them again. A quick google search highlighted how many problems people face with rentals through Easycar - they take your money but never pass on a booking to the actual rental company be it National, Avis, whoever!

Please be very careful if you must use them - and a top tip: if you book well in advance the direct website (for National anyway) is just as good price wise.

Who know's though - no company's perfect - but Easycar are at the very bottom of the pile!!!

Just to tell the other side of the story...

I booked car hire through easyCar at Exeter airport a while back. Somehow I ended up being double-charged: by Avis and easy.

I was all up for a battle to get my money back, but it was accomplished in one simple, friendly, efficient phone call.

Actually made me more likely to use easyCar in the future.
  • Stelios hasn't really had a stellar record with non-Easyjet ventures, and this just proves that 'Easy' is no Virgin.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)

    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.
