Capital One is all over the place! Originally transferred £10k at only 3.9% for life but then a few months later transferred another £2k which is being charged around 12.9% Pre-lightbulb moment I'm afraid! :wall:
Bankruptcy isn't even an option for me. Like I said I can get a mortgage in 3 years! Would be 6 with a bankruptcy order!0 -
Lydia.42 wrote:Think i would wait and speak to Amazon first. You have a nice high limit on that one, and they may offer you something good.
Then you can apply for another card in a month or two.

But I want to do it all now! :rotfl:
Looked again at the Tesco loan and the deal expires on the 25th April so I've got a month or so to apply for that! Will have to ask for a settlement figure first anyway so I can do me maths and see if I'm better off. I know I will be but want to know how much by!0 -

H'mm see what you mean, not much you can do with that really as the 2k would be the last amount to be transferred.0 -

Well your credit file is obviously improving but I guess its impossible to judge how strong it is, ie can it stand a few more searches being recorded. I don't have experience of cards etc so I'm not much help! Can you wait a while maybe and just apply for them one at a time. Also the cards that you expect to close, that will help with your "available credit" amount won't it. Not sure how long that takes to show on your file (that they're closed I mean).
Sorry... not much help!
No it does help thanks!
I'm just being really impatient! Want to get everything sorted now! It's that bad trait that got me in to this mess! The must have/do now mentality! Maybe it's a test!0 -

Exactly! Really dropped myself in the proverbial with that one!
I'm so angry at myself for it! No-one does 3.9% anymore. And the fact that at the time that was all my credit card debt transferred to it! And then I rack it up again! :wall:
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!
Thanks for listening!:rotfl:

Nerd No 9 on parade! Just have to say that I have £52k cc debt and about another £40k that my OH's. We sleep at night just knowing that we have put an end to the spending, are working really hard to pay it off and every week are another step nearer!!
Totally agree with Kathfisch, us genuine DFW's admire each other for the committment to getting to our DFD and when we each get there we will all cheer very loudly!!
Sorry SS, just needed to add that! Off the soap box now!
I have recently had my credit file from Experian and some of my cards don't show up on it. I have seen someone on here say that CC companies don't like to see unused balances on your file, they prefer people who have 50 - 65% of their available balance used. I have been contemplating whether or not to close mine as they are paid but I know that as soon as I do that, some 0% offer would have come my way and I'll have missed it! I think I'll keep them for 3 months, see if I get an offer to use the card again on a 0% or LOB transfer and if not close it.
I think that you should wait 2 months between applications - frustrating but sensible I think.
Your balance is dropping well though!

Thats what we're here for
Its frustrating and I know you want it all sorted now but don't beat yourself up too much, will you? We've all made mistakes but at least you're doing something about it now, the cost of losing the cheap interest rates is nothing in comparison with the cost if you'd carried on spending!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Except for death and paying taxes, everything in life is only for now... Avenue QOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 003Proud to have become debt free... and striving to keep it that way

I know just what you mean. We have knuckled down and paid quite a bit off our debts since our lightbulb moment, and also OH got his back pay recently which will make the dent even bigger. But my thought's were    if we hadn't been sooooo stupid we would have had xx amount saved/to spend on what we like.
OH put me straight and said at least we realised and had put a stop to stupidness, and were going the right direction.
Also feel exactly the same way as you SS. Keep thinking of different ways of re-jigging things to see if i can pay stuff off quicker. Should we do loan first, but then cc deal runs out and we wont clear that in time, but if we clear loan we will have £260 extra to throw at cc's......................
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's enough to make your head spin!!! :rotfl:What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave :mad:0 -
Oh yeah, forgot to mention there's a big shakeup at work which means redundancies!
I should be OK, fingers crossed, but you never know!0
