Vets 4 Pets

I wondered if anyone had any experience of the above vets group. I got my dog a year ago and am going to take it for an annual check up. Orginally I registered with my local vet but have never taken my dog there. But I have recently moved and don't drive so the vet i am registered with is 15mins and two buses. The Vets 4 Pets is 5min one bus. The further away vets is independent but what puts me off is I have seen staff walking dogs from the vets and not clearing up the dog mess.
Anyway if anyone has any views on Vets 4 Pets good or bad be grateful. Thanks.

  • Yes I used to live near one and took my cats for jabs, they are very reasonable on price for boosters and were freindly and helpful.
Cats have not had any serious condition care done there though, but im sure they would be fine, seem very clean and modern surgerys.

I used a local vets 4 pets for my dogs vaccinations as they are cheaper than my usual vet and much easier for me to take my 2 large dogs on my own due to the large waiting/consulting rooms and carpark. I've always been happy with the service as the vets take time to check them over and chat about any worries i might have.

I wouldn't swap from my usual vet totally because they are closer to home and provide 24hr cover which the vets 4 pets one doesn't.

You should report the dog walking staff to the practice as its likely they expect these people to be poop scooping also. They had poop bags available for use in the reception when i last visited.

Thanks for your responses. I am going to give them a go. Does anyone know how much it costs for a booster for one dog and a check up as well? Sort of rough price and long it takes? Its just never taken a dog for this before.
  • A check-up is usually part of the consultation anyway, just to look for any abnormalities and the jab itself is usually over in 5 mins or so,I usually spend more time in the waiting room than I do in the vets, as I can remember my last dog booster was £25 ish, but this was'nt at vets4pets,I had my cats done there a few years ago,if anything I would say they would be cheapest around for a dog booster, they usually are...

I can't remember how much it was now, just ring up your local one and ask how much a booster is. I know they do vaccination for life of pet offer for £70

I think it took about 10-15 minutes approx the vet did a health check up looking at eyes, ears, teeth, paws and listened to their hearts before giving the vaccination.

I use vets4pets for all my dogs because of their vaccination for life offer, which saves me a lot of money having more than one dog. I used to sing their praises, but not so long back a new vet took over there and since then their prices have gone sky high! They know they get a lot of new customers because of their vaccination for life offer, but their pricing on other things have become silly. Now I have my smaller pets I take them to another vets who charge much more reasonably.
  • Just wondering if anyone has any futher opinions on vets 4 pets?

Sorry I should have said. I went to our local Vets4pets. It was a really nice vets. Very clean and modern. A massive waiting room which I was thankful for as my dog isn't too good with other animals and there was a dog in there that kept wanting to come over and say hello which would have ended in tears.
Anyway the vet was nice and proffessional. He weighed the dog and then went into small examination room and checked her over and then gave her the booster with no problems. It cost me £24.95 for the health check and booster and also I paid £99 which allows me to have boosters for life for free (dog is only 3 years old so by the time she is 7 it will have paid for itself).
Anyway they seemed alright and everyone was friendly enough and the place was very clean. Vet seemed very imformed and intrested in the dogs health and general well being. I am glad I went and probably stick with them.
Although a word of warning. I got some worming tablets and normally I paid £2 for the dosage at RSPCA. Cost me £7. I am not sure how that compares to other vets but I won't be getting them from there again!

I've just rang up vets4pets today to register my cat for the vaccinations for life scheme. I was with another vet, how do I go about transferring the cat's record between vets?

I'm also currently with tesco for pet insurance and admit I didn't really shop around. It's coming up renewal at the beginning of October, does anyone have any suggestions of a good pet insurer?
