    Have you asked at the local library? They might have subscriptions you could look at to get some idea.

    I was going to suggest new scientist - it's quite readable for youngsters that age.

    I would suggest dropping an email to the Royal Society of Chemistry, they may have resources they can recommend and they have an excellent eductaion department http://www.rsc.org/

    For chemistry sets - look for an old one as they are great, most of the newer ones just contain bicarb and vinegar, and that's just not cool :o. Old practical books are the best for home experiments and you can still find things if you know where to look. I made all sorts of stuff when I was a kid (including some quite large craters in the garden!).
