Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Mon 15th JUne.. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning. Work shortly..
Is it just me or is the interest in OS declining? The weekend was a pretty low takeup. Mind you if the sun is shining, why play on this thing.
Worked till ten, but managed to have supper at Charlestown looking over the sea and harbour. Missus and dog came down (That's the wife with the dog) so made a break from mundane weekend cover.
Managed to save a few quid comparing car insurance, got better cover and saved almost £100 on my renewal. Just need to find a cash back site that pays for Admiral? Any ideas? I am not a cashback site user, but maybe should be?
Well, best do the chores and then go to work.
Have a good one

Morning everyone.
OK I said I wouldn't be posting this week whilst we are away but it turns out we have wi-fi here and we bought the laptop for DS incase they didn't have a DVD player. So I should still get a small dose of MSE!
Had bad night last night with DS. Ended up at the local A&E as it would appear he's got a terrible ear infection. Shame really as we had such a good day yesterday on the beach it was a lovely day. Didn't get back from hospital until midnight and now DD has decided to wake a 5.15am. Huge bags under my eyes this morning......
OS wise, OK bit thin on the ground but am making sandwiches to take for our lunches etc. there was a time when we'd have just bought everything from a shop........am still cooking all our evening meals so apart from ice creams and a couple of drinks we are fairly OS.
Weather looks a bit hit and miss here so depending on what time DS surfaces (and what time DD retires for a nap) we might head off to Glastonbury.
N9eav - Quidco don't do cashback on Admiral. I am not familiar with any others.
Have a good day everyone, OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Lots of washing to do, so hoping I can get it out to dry.
Hope your day goes well x0 -

I think its exactly that, I know that I was out in the garden till late last night, and we are able to get out and walk the dog later in the evening :T
Bitsy, we went to Glastonbury last year, its a strange place, worth a visit full of alternative people, make sure you go up the tor, its stunning.
Morning all,
Looks like its a bit overcast here today, good job i got most of the washing done yesterday, think I might have one load to do today.
Yesterday I made a frittata with asparagus, and I pickled some beetroot :T, most of the day was spent in the garden, but I pottered around in the evening, and we had the first lettuce from the garden, it was delish and so much more tatsy than the shop ones, I have tiny cucumbers coming too.
Today, I need to have a good clean through hoover and mop the floors, do an online shop, and maybe bake a couple of cakes.
Roast lamb for dinner with all the trimmings.
We are supposed to be getting torrential rain later, would rather have some sunshine please.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Never been on here so early but the dog wanted to go out at 6,so got up.The laptop has had a virus so left it on overnight scanning etc and it seems to be ok.
We got back from a lovely trip to Carcassonne in France. The house was left tidy by DSs when we got back-quite impressed,in fact I asked DS2 if he'd had a woman in but he denied it!The weather was mixed but some really good days.DH had an awful cold which spoiled it a bit,and then gave it me :eek:The diet starts again today as put on a few pounds with eating out all the time, but it was all so good
Forgot to say-hope your sons ear gets better very soon,Bitsy.
Done all the washing-just the ironing now.Looks nice again today,I think your'e right N9eav,seems a shame to be on here when there are things to be done outside.
Barbecued the last 2 nights-friends came up on Sat,some OS-hm coleslaw, home grown salad, chutney. We still have some stuff left so prob same again tonight.Right must make the packed lunches,no one else is up yet.Hope you all have a nice day,I missed you all while away:heartsmil:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Good morning,
I am off to stinky work today, so not much OS to report. I have as usual made my own lunch for work. Yesterday I washed all our fleeces and my anorak and the bathmats. They all dried quickly in the sun.
We were invited to a neighbours to share their BBQ, so I spent a pleasant afternoon there once I'd done the ironing. My house is clean and tidyish, so I'm going for a swim after work today, before I pick ds up.
DS is very excited as his "punkin" seeds have sprouted leaves.
I hope Master Bitsy is well enough to enjoy the rest of his holiday.
Take care all of you.0 -
Morning All
I agree I thinks its quiet on here coz of the weather. N9eav - have you tried Fatcheese. Only really use Quidco myself.

Morning peeps
quite cool here this morning and it has rained overnight, feels nice and fresh though.
We have a severe weather warning here this afternoon  hopefully i shall be home by the time the worst of it hits us but DH will be trying to get home at the worst time.
I shall make toad in the hole for tea tonight so that will warm him up after a long day.
Not much osing here today as it`s a long shift for me, i`m off to do some w*rk but shall pop back later.
Have a good day all.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
DS has appeared (so much for a lie in!!) and despite a gunky ear (sorry for TMI) and looking bone dead tired he seems in good spirits. Taken his antibiotics like a good boy so hopefully that was the worst of it last night.
its been a few years since I went to Glasto - wonder if the Tor is pushchair friendly. Think H can push DD up that hillI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good morning
Had a good OS day yesterday - made enough curry sauce for five curries and in SC made enough spag bol for three meals, WM, DW & BM all in constant use and did quite a lot of decluttering:D.
Back to work today but should be fun - we are taking some of our residents to the beach & having a fish & chip lunch.
Bitsy - hope your son feels better soon, enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Have a good day all

:oMorning :hello:
Suns just come out hope it stays that way, just makes me feel better if the suns out.
OH finished cutting the shrubs and hedges yesterday and everything looks nice and tidy outside.
He took the top out of the eucalyptus tree as well and next door asked if they could have a couple of branches for their birds, apparently they eat the bark as well as the leaves.
Smells lovely down that end of the garden when he cuts it then trims the Rosemary.
Bitsy - hope DS's ear clear up soon, enjoy the rest of your holiday
N9eav - think you are right everyone is either outside enjoying our all too infrequent nice weather or on holiday
kjsam - enjoy your day on the beach
