cot bed mattress?

hi there everyone.
i need to buy a mattress for our soon to be new arrival, i have been looking at mothercare and the sprung mattress with coolmax and spacetec caught our eye. however it's quite expensive. :eek:http://http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-interior-mattress-Spacetec-CoolMax/dp/B001JJK2NG/sr=1-1/qid=1245008922/ref=sr_1_1/277-6678884-3166068?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=206265031&mcb=core

i have been looking round and have found this one,
http://http://www.babymattressesonline.co.uk/products/cot-bed-junior-bed-mattresses/koolmax-fully-sprung/koolmax-fully-sprung-mattress-for-cot-product.html
my question is this, what is the difference?, and what would people recommend?

Links don't work for me either, but we bought an ikea mattress, however we only have a cot so didn't need it to be as hard wearing as will only be used until 1.5 or 2 years rather 3-4 years! Hope you find one soon.

    Hiya

I bought my sons cotbed and matress from John Lewis, The cot itself was only £100 but the matress was about £140. I've always been given the advice of buy the best matress you can afford. No idea about the ones that you're looking at but in my experience I always find mothercare very expensive and always shop elsewhere :)

My daughter's cotbed matress was just a standard one that came with the cot, she slept on it for 4 1/2 years and never had a problem... It's currently in the cupboard waiting for DD2 to go into the cot... Babies and toddlers weigh very little so a really expensive matress seems unnecessary to me...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

I've recently purchased from babymattressesonline as I was given an Ikea crib but couldn't find the mattress online to fit it (babymattressesonline do made to measure ones).

I paid just over £22 including delivery for a mattress to fit with airholes and washable cover and can recommend the site - delivery was quick and order was as expected. Baby still hasn't arrived to use the mattress though so can't comment on whether it gives a good nights sleep but my fingers are crossed that it does!!

thanks for all of your replies, i think i might go for the babymattressonline one, it just sounds exactly the same as the mothercare one but £40 cheaper, has coolmax and is sprung. plenty of time yet though, so any more thoughts would be welcome.

I got a maxicool sprung one from ebay as it needs to last a few years. £54.99 and £7.50 delivery. Was delivered the next day from a baby shop in Northampton but quality is excellent. Wouldn't go for the cheapest option personally when you consider how much time/hours each day it is used.

I wouldn't bother with the coolmax fabric on a cot mattress. What coolmax does is take away the moisture so you don'r feel as clammy. This means that any nappy leaks will be absorbed into the mattress.

You would be better off with a sprung mattress with a breathable waterproof cover that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

why do there have to be so many choices:confused: how did people ever have babies in years gone by? so many things you can not do/must do and they seem to swap around every couple of years.
