F11 is probably the recovery option, which definitely won't work. Just keep tapping F2 repeatedly from the moment you hit the power switch and you should get in.

Found it! What you need is something called a rompaq (rompaqs)

See here then replace the three !!! with Oss (replacing the O with an A, it's filtering the link and making it not work :( damn you MSE!!)

(I can't really grantee that those ones will work because I have no idea of your model... But your looking for something like that.) It won't let you into the BIOS because you've wiped the BIOS interface from the hard drive ;)

You could reset the BIOS by temporarily moving the appropriate jumper... or removing the battery on the motherboard. That might help.

If you didn't have a BIOS your PC wouldn't even POST! :p

    well it doesnt does it

i thought posting happened after/during this screen along with any option ROMs

so if the pc does not proceed past this point most of the time its pointing to me that the bios is damaged?

You might as well try what TangleFoot said to be honest, because the BIOS is still there. But without a floppy drive or recovery CD, let alone a modle number so you can replace the missing files... Your not going to be able to access the BIOS(and the computer knows this, hence why it freezes)

Their tempremental (hence why it boots sometimes and doesen't the next) So try TangleFoo's suggestion first :)

If it wasn't there, you wouldn't see anything on the screen either. Depending on the age of the system, the EEPROM chip containing the BIOS can usually be found in a small brown socket on the motherboard.

    ...

You probably don't need a new battery - just take it out for a few moments then put it back in.
