If we're spending £2500 tops on the wedding and this is split between venue, ceremony, dress, rings etc, is it worth getting insurance?

i would still say yes, go for e&l's cheapest option which is probably best for you. ANYTHING could happen the venue could burn down, dress not ready in time or company goes out of business etc.. its definately worth it and its only a few quid really.
Someone on here said the other day their venue has had a fire and they didn't have insurance.
  • Thanks this thread is most useful! Getting married in June 2011! Does anyone know about E&L's insurance, in the FAQ it says that you have to have the ceremony booked, but I can't book the registery office until 1 year B4, but have book the reception.... is this the case? Do all wedding insurance have that clause?

it says they need the address of the church or venue, so if you have booked the venue you give the address. We've got our registrar provisionally booked and can't officially book them until next may. This is the same for all registrars so E&L will know that. Considering their insurance covers 2 years it'd be a bit silly if you paid for their insurance and couldn't claim.
From my understanding you just need the church or venue booked.

Just phoned Debenhams and they DO cover swine flu. A little bit more expensive but that is the most likely thing that i'll need to claim for!

We have gone with Wedding Plan Insurance, and also see if you can buy it through a cashback website:)
