Wedding Insurance (merged)

Hi,

I did a quick search of the forums but could only find some old posts about this. We're just about to pay out a deposit on a venue for our wedding in 2011. This will be our first financial outlay so I thought it would be wise to go for some sort of wedding insurance now.

Has anyone got any recommendations and/or advice?

Cheers

Rich

Put it on a credit card and don't bother with insurance. Even if you pay a small deposit on a credit card you can be covered by s72 (I think its 72...).
  • on the other hand, wedding insurance purchased now covers 2 years. We used eandl wedding insurance and only cost £26 for our entire wedding.. a tiny amount for the piece of mind we thought!

I looked at M&S and Debenhams as figured I wanted a big name company in the hope that they wouldn't go bust! lol
Went with Debenhams in the end. We took the middle option with them for £90 as it suited our costs slightly better than M&S. Think the cheapest with both was around £70..... :)

Money well spent for anyone who might go under and it covers re-arrangement. If me or OH or a close family member was ill or worse, putting things on your credit card won't cover you for these kinds of unexpected events........

I've only paid out for deposit so far (and that's been on credit card) so no insurance as yet. I'll probably get the eandl policy in the end.

Our concern is that OH and I both have long term medical conditions (his more serious than mine, both unpredictable but neither life-threatening). I have yet to find any insurance that will cover us if we have to rearrange because of either of our conditions. I know it's fairly unlikely, but does anyone know of a company that will be daft enough to cover this?

Weddingplaninsurance.co.uk have wedding insurance at £19.99, less than half the price of Debenhams!
  • All right I'm being daft what does wedding insurance cover?
    if yer venue burns down?
if the cars dont turn up?

if your OH runs off with the stripper from his stag do???

doesnt really say whats covered - "cancelation"

    Do I need insurance?
