DVD writers in PCWorld are about £30 (at least the one I bought a few weeks ago was) but cheaper ones on the web.
ATI All-In-Wonder (see above) will be a good option. You need to watch out with these PCs because they only have 2 PCI slots and one PCI-e slot, so if you put in a graphics card, modem and sound card you wouldn't be able to put in a TV card - that's why an integrated graphics/TV solution isn't a bad idea.
I just put a cheap £20 TV analogue card in mine and it's fine for watching the Beeb etc. - not tried hooking it up to Sky yet.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

X300 128Mb Hypermemory - ACTUAL on-board memory = 32Mb
X600 256Mb Hypermemory - ACTUAL on-board memory = 128M
I have the X300 and sisoft sandra says total memory 128MB on my Dell 4700!0 -
The original X300 as fitted to many Dell machines incl. the 4700 had 128MB of it's own memory whereas the new X300s are hypermemory as stated which robs most of it's 128MB from the system memory.0

Just bought one of these.
I fancy another 512 RAM and a lightscribe DVD/RW and you guys seem knowledgeable.
Anyone got any ideas where and what best to get?
Thanks in advance.0 -

Crucial are not the cheapest for RAM, but come highly recommended, also their scanner can confirm which chips your PC needs if you're unsureThanks to all who post constructively.

For the DVD writer go to SVP (https://www.svp.co.uk) if you value service - pretty cheap too especially if you wait for a 99p shipping weekend (usually every couple of weeks).
I'd have to agree on the memory - crucial come highly recommended to everyone but doubly so for those who are upgrading for the first time. Their memory is guaranteed (lifetime) to work in the machine you buy it for (through their configurator).0 -
My 5100 came with an X300SE 128MB card in it, which I immediately took out and threw into a box. Can't even be bothered to sell it on ebay cos it's worth so little. Personally I don't think it's worth paying extra for one of these - save your money and put in at least a 128MB 6600GT if you want to play any games. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
