I love my covered cat litter tray...well I don't mean that I use it....:D..but you know what I mean. She only has dried food, so you can't smell anything, you wouldn't know I had a cat 'smell wise'...apart from white hairs in places there shouldn't be white hairs.:D

Anyways the Q is, I was considering getting a covered litter tray, I had one before, when I just had the 1 cat, it was from argos (cheap!) and it didn't hold the smell in at all, the filter at the top was ROTTEN, and whenever I opened the box It was like I was being sucker punched with poopys.

Oh dear, the one I've got is from Argos! Worrying! Can't say I've noticed the smells as much as I did when she was using her old tray, but time will tell!

    Bit worried now! :rotfl:

It's when the filter at the top that supposedly absorbs the smells, gets compacted with poop smells, is when the problem starts. If you buy replacement filters, It would be okay!

I have two litter trays for my two (so they are not fighting for dominance/desperate to spend a penny). You can get the filters to buy at pet stores (pets @ home sells two types) or online & when it gets whiffy you know it's time for a change.... (best to buy extra & have one spare so you can just replace it & buy another to have in waiting so to speak). It's FAR less messy or whiffy than an uncovered tray. I used to have one in the corridor opposite the front door & 1 under the bathroom sink - clever creatures used one that one for No2s. Now I have replaced the corridor one with a corner litter tray so they are both inside the bathroom (best place for such things).
