Cheers everyone, think I'm 99% sold on getting one on payday.
Silly questions this may be, but I take it's just the same as a normal tray when it comes to daily cleaning/removing of "presents" lol

Trust me, don't bother with the Aldi one unless its van ness.
It makes a MASSIVE difference having a deep tray they can't track out & chuck out litter from as easily;)
Well worth the extra few quid.0 -

on what food you give yr moglet - there is more `waste' with wet food & also what litter you use - the superior clumpers are v absorbant.
on how fussy yr cat is about this - mine are not fussed but I also feed them 99% dry so I don't clean daily, mostly every other day or every 2 days.
on your preferences really - out of sight/smell you may choose to clean less often than uncovered. I can't say as I got the covered boxes b4 getting my two cats (in fact it was those chance to have those deposits hidden away sold me on getting them at all really).0 -

Quality complete dried diet & Sainsburys sophsticat/citycat white crystals are the ultimate combo;)0 -
Currently we're on Whiska's kitten pouches and a bit of dry, as it's all my local shop had. Come pay day I can do an online shop and get something better if you have any suggestions?
She is a bit of a parper on the current food, bless her.

Go for a complete dried food.
Look in pets at home or the pet shops locally.
I feed mine (exotics) Royal Canin, but you don't need to spend that much to give them a good quality diet.
If you must have supermarket stuff them Iams is the only decent food sold in the supermarket (but its still not as good as the pet shop stuff).
James Wellbeloved & Arden Grange are very popular too.
Some brands do more offers (BOGOF & 3 for 4) than others. Hills Science Plan seem to do lots of offers & are almost as good as Royal Canin.0 -
Iams do alot of animal testing
Science Hill contains alot of chemicals & meat derivatives!
James Wellbeloved & Burns are the best I believe personally - applaus I haven't tried.0 -

I've heard that about Iams, but I'm not convinced its not a bit of internet-myth &/or don't most of them anyway, certainly all the large commercial ones.0 -
Hey all,
Just wanted to thank you for the advice, I went out and bought a covered tray with a catflap yesterday and my kitten has taken to it no problem at all.
Thanks again

Hi hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread.
I have 2 cats, one is a kitten and since I've had him I notice my hall is whiffy from the smells coming from the room they use, I have two trays down but they both go in each others, and it's making quite the aroma! I don't think it would be so bad if they were both using the same tray as then the smell would be confined to that tray, even when I scoop it, etc, the smell still lingers.
Anyways the Q is, I was considering getting a covered litter tray, I had one before, when I just had the 1 cat, it was from argos (cheap!) and it didn't hold the smell in at all, the filter at the top was ROTTEN, and whenever I opened the box It was like I was being sucker punched with poopys.
I like the look of that covered tray MRSE posted a link too - Would I be able to just have that 1 tray for the both of the cats? And does it actually keep smells contained?0
