Avira updates failing

Hi, I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me with an issue I am having with Avira.

For the last few days I have been getting messages to say the update has failed. Following is a copy of the report from the most recent one.

    Do you have any other anti-virus software installed?

    Have you tried re-installing it? If not download this to remove Avira then reinstall from here.

    No other anti-virus installed and only ever had Avira on here.

    The removal tool link you supplied only did a scan which didn't show anything up then the only option was to exit. Is this correct or was it supposed to completely remove Avira from my system? Not sure whether I should still be going ahead with the reinstall or not now?!

    If Avir's not working for you, you can always use Avast! instead.

    Just waiting to see if the next scheduled update works.

    Hmmm, Avira's website doesn't particularly use intuitive names... Try uninstalling Avira from Add / Remove programs, reboot, then reinstall from here.

    Its quite possible youve been infected which is effecting the update process

    Id suggest as follows as a precaution ~
    Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')

    UPDATE and FULL SCAN
    Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
