Now, now Andy don't get stressed out;) over what I do for a living. It is really nothing to do with you, is it? Try to keep on track with the post.

As the Edinburgh lass says 'every cloud has its silver lining'. Is everything at B&Q good....hmm no, but do they have a couple of gems in their huge range?...yep they do. Remember Andyhop its called 'moneysavingexpert.com' so if you've got a money saving tip, lets all play nice with the other children & share those tips.

So here's mine, a Mira 8.5kW shower for under 100 quid. Where? At B&Q ;)of course. Yep I couldn't believe it either, (no need to eat your words Andy);). Is it a Mira Sport, nope, but it is a very cheap Mira:money:.

So foi1983, I don't mean to patronise, but you are asking for advice. Mine's is shop around & don't (at this stage) exclude anywhere, take your time (don't rush into anything you can't get out of) & ask lots of questions.

    Jockster

I too am a fully qualifed bathroom and kitchen fitter and would not fit a cheap suite from B&Q....I prefer to fit decent quality at a resonable cost which allows me to give a insurance backed warranty knowing that i will have no problems on quality and fittting

You buy cheap you buy twice....Not very moneysaving is it

A tip is passing on a 51% discount on ideal standard and twyfords, 65% on Roca

I went on the PTS website and they wont send me a brochure unless I have a company, which I dont? How do I get trade prices then?

    Are you a tradesman?

    Hello, No I am not.

Would I have to hire a tradesman to fit it and then tell them which suite that I want them to buy?

    Plumbworld have some reasonable stuff.
My new toliet and basin came in at 300 for the lot but it was a sale/clearance item.

B&Q have some nice looking stiff in but I've yet to see a whole lot of praise for their kit from people in the know.

Anyone that recommends B&Q for sanitryware is not a tradesman,

The products are cheap low end rubbish,And better products are available for not much more cash and can be bought from a trade supplier

You will get a triton shower for £100 but again branded Mira Sports start at £170 for trade....You always get what you pay for so avoid the cheapest

As usual i always praise PTS, Prices to Non-Trade are resonable

Take a look at the concept, create and jasper morrison range from Ideal Standard, Up to date looks without the huge price tag
Hi Andyhop, I'm looking at fiiting a new bathroom soon. I'm going with the Ideal Standard Concept cube toilet and sink, which Jewsons have given me a good price on (as good as best on internet).
I'm not sure what bath though. I have steel at present, but liked the look of the Jasper Morrison Double Ended, but when I saw it I was a bit concerned about its strength as it seemed a bit flimsy, and we'll be using it for a shower as well. I've seen that Kaldewei do what looks like a nice steel double ended, and also Bathroom Store do what look like nice acrylics as well. Any recomendations, or have you had experience of the Jasper.
One other think, I find that the plumb merchants can be expensive as they don't like giving trade prices as it up-sets their tradesman, which is annoying when fitting yourself - but hay, if they don't other best price they don't get the business!!!! Just an add on, I'm constantly suprised at the prices that Jewson offer sometimes.

The concept range is good stuff and you should be getting a fair discount

The jasper morrison bath is ok for use as a shower bath but i would recommend a idealform bath, If its a steel bath that you want and dont mind spending the extra then get a bette bath

Take a look on this website under product specification

    http://www.thebluebook.co.uk/

The twfords indulgence bath is also a double ended bath that is very strong

I found my plumber was able to source the bath I wanted cheaper than I could (1700x700 steel) so it pays to ask your fitter to quote without parts and then ask how much they can get them for. If you can get it cheaper, you do it, but they might have discounts you don't have access to :)

PS Cheap doesn't mean bad quality. We have a B&Q to go toilet installed by the last owners and it was the only thing we didn't need to replace, even plumber said there was no point unless we wanted something in a different design.

More certificates and qualifications than you!

There is not a qualification that shows your a proffessional kitchen and bathroom fitter, Its based on many qualifications such as plumbing, heating tiling, plastering and electrical, All of which i have gone to college to do, None of which are fast track courses designed for the career change folk

4yrs as a plumbing and heating engineer with the added benefit or corgi and Niceic registration, 2yrs as a tiler and plaster with relevant NVQs

Then the many years of experience that builds on the qualifications.....
