Sky+ box freezes up
[Deleted User]
My sky+ box was replaced recently with an Amstrad and since then, whenever I send the signal to the TV in another room using an AV signal sender, the box freezes up - the box does not respond to any keys on the remote. The only solution is to turn off at the wall socket and turn it back on. However, I had no such problem when I had the Thomson box. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem? It would seem that the AV sender may be causing some interference, but I'm afraid I don't know what to do about it, short of calling sky.

Have you tried the box without the sender attached? - process of elimination etc.
On your sky box check services, system setup, signal. If signal 2 is down then this apparently means you may have a hard drive fault (assuming cable is plugged in correctly which if it isnt make sure it is otherwise you will have a false reading).
This link will tell you how to reset your box.

Be warned though that you will lose all of your recordings as it is a full reset.0 -
Please state the make and model number of the "AV sender".
As it's a transmitter, it transmits signals. These may be getting into your digibox via unscreened cable or connections. Make sure that all your leads are fully screened.0 -
The make is Total Control but I can't see anything to indicate the model number. I think you're right - there seems to be some interference from the transmission signals. What do you mean by making sure leads are fully screened? What do I need to do to ensure this? Please explain in simple terms as I'm not familiar with high tech - thank you for your helpMoneymaker wrote: »Please state the make and model number of the "AV sender".
