They're not all bad at all squeek. They make marvellous field scopes and binoculars so that people can watch all the beauty of animals too. It's fairly natural that if you produce glass to the calibre that Swarovski do then some of it is going to be used for the hunting of animals, especially in the US where for very many people hunting is 2nd nature.
Sorry squeek, but we sort of have to accept that this does happen, even over here. I suppose it does at least show that they also appreciate the beauty of animals, obviously.

People are always going to hunt, having decent scopes on the gun means "hopefully" a cleaner hit and less pain and suffering for the animal involved.
I don't remember ever seeing Swarovski passing themselves off as animal rights activists.0 -
On the contrary, it seems Swarovski go out of their way to benefit wildlife:

Hopefully the police will be using these excellent optics next time they need to take out an armed robber/terrorist/rampaging bull.0 -

no, but they do make pretty little animal figures, and being one of many animal lovers in the uk , i have bought some over the yrs. anyway just cos you got an expensive scope, dont mean your a good shot.0 -

I am an animal/nature lover myself but I must confess I find squeek's OP to be totally naive and pretty pointless in the extreme.
To say that we should boycott a maker of glass ornaments because they also make optics for gunsights shows such a simplistic view of things that one wonders if squeek is allowed to cross the road on his/her own.
A man has a gun which he is pointing at an animal - who should we boycott as well ?
The gun manufacturer ?
The firm that makes the varnish that is applied to the stock of the gun ? Who also make the varnish on your renewable timber front door.
The firm that makes the tins that the varnish manufacturer puts his products in ? Who also make the tins containing the fair trade organic pet food for your moggy.
The firm that makes the machine that makes the tins ? Who also make the machine used to make hospital equipment.
The firm that makes the steel plate for the tins ? Who also make steel for the brick ties holding your house together.
The company that digs the iron ore from the ground ? Who supply ore for just about EVERYTHING !
..........AND of course don't forget to boycott the firm that makes the buttons on the trousers of the man driving the excavator for the iron ore company !!
Squeek may well find that he/she or some of his/her relatives are "supporting" some pretty unsavory practices if he/she wishes to look close enough.0 -
I presume squeek is a vegan , wouldnt want her to be eating meat or wearing bye products of the meat industryVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

Now now, this is the green board and gosh, we're entitled to have our bleeding heart liberal views here. Has anyone read Ethical Consumer? They rate a company according to their business link or investments in other companies.
For example, IIRC, Hovis has links to the arms trade.
Nestle? Well, if you don't know why I'm boycotting Nestle, perhaps this isn't the board for you.
You can make a stand about whatever you want... tenuous or otherwise. My TV is broken!
