with mine i put a good amount of butter in a frying pan and sautee them in that and some minced garlic until they get brown and a bit bubbly on the surface, this softens them considerably and they are soooo moreish!

You could make peapod wine. This uses the recipe from a good book - https://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=24279&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

I always add the sugar in stages so that the wine doesn't get too sweet!

Has anyone made a soup from broadbean pods? I shelled a mound of broad beans today and it seems such a waste to throw the pods on the compost heap.

I have made peapod soup before but cannot find any recipies for broadbeans used in the same way. We did eat some of the beans, pods an'all when they were young and they were very tasty.

Broad beans - I don't bother to shell them - just throw the whole lot on the compost :rotfl:

There's an older thread here with some more sensible suggestions :o I'll add this later to keep ideas together.

I have looked at that thread, thankyou, Penelope, but it doesn't mention broadbean pod soup. It's probably one of the very many occasions when I am trying to take money saving a little too far!
