Unable To Attend Sign-On

Hi,
I'm unable to attend my sign on for next time as I'm going to be on a break (but still in the UK) for two nights.

What will happen with my claim? Can I change my day that I sign on...I'm actually going on the day I'm due to sign.

You should inform the Jobcentre that you are going away. You are entitled to go away in th UK, and will need to complete a form. They will either change your signing day or arrange for you to sign on at the nearest Jobcentre to your destination.

You can only sign at a different jobcentre if the purpose of your absence from home is to look for work in that area. In your case you'll need to ask for a "Going Away From Home" form before you leave. You will then need to attend your own jobcentre to sign on on the first working day after you return, meaning your benefit will be delayed. You can't sign on early I'm afraid. :sad:

What time are you due to set off and what time are you due to sign?

Use form JSA90 and sign on at the nearest Jobcentre. You can even do this if your in NI. Just say that you have been looking for work in the other area.

I'll be in Liverpool. It's not for jobseeking just a break away from home.
I'm leaving around 5.30am and the sign on time is 4.25pm. I'm apparently well known in there because I'm the only one who dares look for work outside a ten mile perimiter of the jobcentre so I'm unsure of if they'll believe me after bleating on about moving to NI for the past six weeks to them!

Why can't you sign early? I'm sure they make these processes as difficult as possible..after all it is only two minutes!

Well, for one thing the computer will not allow 'evidence' to be accepted even a day before the normal 'Benefit Week Ending' so that would be a problem.

They may have let you sign early in terms of time (ie come in as soon as they open) but if you are leaving at 5am that's not going to help you much as they can't sign you a day early.

This is what I was thinking, if you go in on the correct day you haven't failed to do anything. doesn't look like that's the answer though.

So if I go in day after I get back...which would be Friday, would that just mean the payment is delayed by three days?

It must be by prior arrangement.
