Staff ID Procedures...

OK at the moment I do work for a bank, however, as of 1st July, I won't!

I phoned up the staff bank to ask how I could downgrade from the bank's packaged account (which I'd have to pay for was I no longer staff) and they said, we can do that over the phone. Shall I do that now for you? I said yes.

Well. All this person had asked me for 'security' was my name, to which I only gave her my first name, and my employee ID number (which anyone in my team or any manager can have). Surely she missed something out here? I have just checked my account this morning and it has indeed been downgraded but I am very concerned over the lack of security! Any other bank (any bank) staff members around to shed some light on your staff ID procedures?

I phoned up the staff bank
I'm not aware of Halifax ever having such an exciting perk for staff! An ATM buried away in a basement corner at Trinity Road was the highlight I recall!

Ring up the call centre and join the call queue behind the great unwashed ;) .

And the call centre invariably went through the full range of security checks and still tried to flog you something after dealing with the request!
which I'd have to pay for was I no longer staff
Are you planning an escape from the evil world of banking?

RBS used to keep staff and families to a range of easy to remember account numbers. My account from years ago is so easy to remember everyone thinks I'm joking when I can quote it on bank details forms for work or direct debits!

I work with someone who has this perk......so long as it's not 12345678 :p

It does sound a bit weird Kavanne, but I've not needed to ring up Yourbank as yet so can't answer.

Where abouts are you going if you don't mind me asking? Leaving the banking world altogether?
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

We have a group ID&V system, where you set up two passwords, and get asked for characters when you call through to HR etc.

Old style staff accounts, when account numbers were assigned by hand, used to start X000. My first boss had the account 10000010 or something ridiculous.
    What would William Shatner do?
  • I had a proper NatWest Advantage Gold account plus a staff account, obviously the AdGold went straight away cos I'd have had to pay for it.
HR are great, if you need addresses or HR Freephone number then give me a PM.
If you have lending facilities then nothing changes except that if you wanted lending facilities from NatWest then they would be at customer rates, etc, etc,. You should get something from HR pensions usually within 4 weeks of leaving but make sure HR have your up to date address to send your P45 to.
Anything else and you know where to find me.
I would have said congratulations for getting outta banking but I see you haven't. Clearly NatWest don't give you the right punishment needed ;)
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
