I am currently looking at a new Broadband/Phone package, haiving been on the BT Option 1 package for the past 12 months.
I have 2 laptops in the house, with my son doing large numbers of downloading and so probably need 40Gb minimum. I also like the idea of paying a one off line rental for anytime calls.

ORANGE 'HOME MAX': My dad uses this package which seems to be great for him and may suit my needs. the package seems to be about £23 which includes line rental and very good.

BT: They have offered the Option 3 package for £40.00, including the line rental anytime calls.

SKY: I have a current package with Sky (All apart from Movies), does anyone have any experience of them and whether they have a suitable package as the site doesn't seem to make it easy to compare.

Does anyone have any other options or advice concerning the pros and cons of the info above?

With thanks in anticipation:beer:

any help appreciated, somebody must be using this package and have an opinion, or use another one and offer advice.

    Any help?

Sky mid broadband gives you up to 8mb speed and 40gb usage each month for £5/month with a free wireless router. Their line rental is £10 with free evening/weekend calls. Only downside is you must always have sky tv to use it. I was with sky bb for quite some time and the connection was very good. I have just switched to Tiscali to save some money and that all seems to have gone well so far. Also I didn't want to watch any more bloody tv repeats or endless adverts between programmes! :rotfl:There is so much still available on the sky box without a tv subscription. Would still recommend sky thou if you have and want a tv package.

Thanks cheghead but it seems that i can only get the 'Connect' package which equates to the Mid package, but I would have to pay £17 for it.
Seems strange and not really sure why it is so much more but think I may think of the Talk Talk package.

What about tiscali? It will only cost £14.99/month for un-limited monthly download up to 8 mb. Free telephone line rental and weekend calls included. There is a £30 set up but go thru quidco and get £35 cashback. There is a free wired router and Wireless router is £20 extra also but I just re-flashed my sky wireless router. It's only a 12 month contract instead of 18 with talk talk. Tiscali are soon to be part of talk talk so don't suppose this offer will last for very long. Some people have said tiscali is not very good but I've had no probs so far.

Alternatively if you can get Virgin Media digital you could check out how their packages compare with Sky.

I have been a BT phone customer for many years. When I changed my broadband provider to BT phone and broadband package in March I was charged for 3 month line rental in advance. Can anyone explain why this was?

    Hi Kelly248,

This could be advanced charges for your services which is normal. I can check it if you want. Ill drop you a PM and we can take it from there.
