This is what my Dad was told today, after ringing Tax credits up, upon finding 2 letters at his address for 2 people (a couple? both foreign names) he had never heard of.
All he was ringing up for was to tell TC that these people didn't live at his address.
After being told " sorry we can't discuss this with you" 3 times, Dad told them that he didn't want to discuss anything, but he was telling them that these people didn't live at his address!
What should he do now as he doesn't want 2 people claiming fraudulently from his address!
BTW, he's lived at his address for 3 years now and has never had any tax credit letters go there before
ETA, sorry about the use of the word 'address' so many times

he could send them back "not known at this address",not that it always works!its very bad that they wouldnt listen to him to explain.0

A sad sign of people not understanding the Data Protection Act. I deal with various businesses for different people (with their written authorisation) and have come across this on countless occasions. Very frustrating when you are actually trying to help the organisation as well as yourself!Gone ... or have I?0

How about phoning the tax fraud line?0

Advise them that the claimants have changed their address to:
10 Downing Street, London, SW1A 2AA
Make it someone else's problem."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

That's what he's done (or I should say he's done that and got them ready to throw in the post tomorrow).Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

That's just it isn't it. I can't believe how easy it is to claim TC.
Even when I had the baby 5 weeks ago, I only had to ring TC and give babies name and DOB. They didn't want proof of anything!
Surely if this is a fraudulent claim, TC would want to know ~ or you'd think they would :rolleyes:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Dad would have done that, but don't forget TC "couldn't discuss it with him":D
ETA ~ With regards to ringing the fraud hotline, would they do anything about it, if Dad only knows the names of these people?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

They're haven't been opened so we wouldn't know what they contain.
All I know is that they are for 2 people (one for a man and one for a woman), with foreign names and they are from tax credits.
Dad described the envelopes to me over the phone and they are the ones that we get award notices and annual declaration stuff in.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
