My dog is horny

I have two dogs, brother and sister
My boy has started becoming horny over the past few weeks but now hes trying to hump his sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cant get him done for at least another 4 weeks as he is too young!!!
She not on heat and there are no signs of her beginning her heat anytime soon neither!
It only started becoming worse yesterday and now I dont know what to do. I have a cage so its pretty easy to lock one up at night and leave the other out but now I feel like hes going to feel like I love him less than his sister because I keep them apart. I dont mind them in the same room as me as long as I can watch them but I just dont trust him alone with her.
He's already showing withdrawal signs, ie. he doesnt stay with the pack if we are all in the same room, he stays in the corner of the room or lies somewhere away from people and his sister. He will stay away from us and im worried about him, is he just sexually frustrated or what?

im going to bump this....has anyone got any ideas of how to handle such a dog?'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0

get him done then...! How old is he?
Talk nto your vet, but I think if he has begun humping and cocking his leg then it may be as well to get him done now. In the meantime, can he be kept in a seperate room, or sent off to a friends house? (you will need to keep them seperate for a while after his op too).0 -
before his behaviour started, we took him to the vets who said they would not do it until he is 6 months, he's 5 months now
Just worried because a woman down the road told me her female dog was raped by her male dog and i didnt think this was possible, its unheard of to me
Guess its one in the cage and one out unless supervised then'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0 -
well, I don't think you can define a dog doing what comes naturally as rape, but yes, he may well mate with her. Or he may try and mate with her, and if she isnt keen it could get nasty. Even if you are supervising them, it can be very difficult to seperate dogs once they get started - I know someone who was talking to a friend with his b1tch on a lead, when unbeknown to him, an off lead male dog mounted his female... not good.
I have heard people suggest to throw a bucket of water over them to get them to seperate, but to be honest I dont know if this is a good idea or not... maybe someone else on here will though.0 -
ill guess ill have to keep them far away as possible until we can get him/her done.
It will most probably be him geting done as the vet recommends the female having one heat before she gets done, she hasnt had her first heat and there are no signs or symptoms of her starting anytime soon neither
Thanks for the advice'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0 -
Humping can often be a dominance, and even play, behaviour with dogs, it isn't always sexual.
Have you seen when he mounts does he become erect? And does the erection go above or below the female's tail? If he is rubbing it along her back, over the tail, it's more likely to be dominance behaviour. The thing with this is, that if he feels isolated by the way you are separating them it could exacerbate this behaviour as he may interperet your "favouritism" as the due of the dominant dog.
Either way I suggest seeing a second vet and asking if they will neuter at 5 months. As no matter why he is humping there is a risk of pregnancy and it's not worth taking.0 -

I have spoken to three vets who said wait until 6 months! He's six months at the end of this month so all i can do is wait if everyone is giving me the same answer!
I was reading up on dogs and intercourse and it says that the dog will not get erect until inside the female or made contact with the female bits, so if i said no he was not erect, it wont necessarily mean he was not trying anything sexual, although, his bits were not over her back!!!!!
What I have done is keep them both near my foot and in the same room when im not busy so he doesnt feel like im leaving him so they are always close to me, they both love that then i monitor their playtime
when it comes to bedtime, i have to alternate them both going in the cage as they both love their cage, they were pretty restless when we took it down but last night it went back up so ill see how it progresses!'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0 -
some vets will neuter male pups far earlier than six months, and although many people feel it is better for the dog if it is more mature realistically I think this has to be balenced against the risk of the very real practical problems of having two entire animals of either sex in the home.
Have you spoken to your vet about this behaviour and asked his advice? I know there are some drugs which mimic the effects of neutering, but have no idea whether this would be suitable for your dog.
What breed are they? - I believe in general large breed dogs mature later than small breeds.CocoPopsLover wrote: »ill guess ill have to keep them far away as possible until we can get him/her done.

I assume you will be getting them both neutered in due course, but yes, it seems sensible to get him done first!0 -
Just remember to close the bedroom door...0

Staffordshire Bull Terrier
I will call up my vets on monday morning and see if they could reconsider doing it for me under the circumstances.
I did ask her a month ago and she just said no, we cant do it, so i left it as we never had any issues with him then but i did want it done before any issues because obvious, now look!!!'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0
